Sleek cables quality issues
I'm at replacement cable no. two in just six months.
I love the idea of being able to replace the cables, but if it is just an excuse to use below average components, and then cash-in on replacement cables, then the idea is not so hot.
Cables come apart at the ear piece connectors or at the splitter. They also seem to become less flexible after some time.
Was there talk of Sleek releasing better quality cables?

Yeah, their cables are really making me mad. Nice concept but if they can't pull it off, it doesn't matter. Mine came apart the first day I used them. I had to keep trying to shove the wire back into the splitter. The sound was intermittent for a while and has now totally gone out. I've tried contacting them about it multiple times but have yet to hear anything back from them. Their customer service is supposedly good but I have yet to experience that.

I'm with you. I've had two cables fail at the left channel barrel connector now.
The first time they just sent me a new one, but now they expect me to ship the old one back first. I really don't want to start playing that game when both of these cables each lasted a little over a month each.

A temp. fix I've done is super glued the metal plate to where the cable splits and also applied a thin layer on the edges of the barrel connector piece.

I love the sound and compact size SA6 however, the cable issue is really annoying me. My left barrel connector has also failed after less than a month. And I also find that the cable becomes less flexible over time (even hard and set in a certain position), which likely adds to this problem. This is the third time I've read about a left one failing...maybe there's a design fault here? Again, no reply from Sleek Audio regarding the problem.
I might try gluing the barrel connector piece after I buy a new one...will this not hamper swivelling of the cable? For me there's no point using the warranty by sending the part back to Sleek and also paying for return postage (I'm based in Ireland) so I might as well just buy as new from the UK. Very frustrating.
I was thinking of buying the wireless setup but the flimsy barrel connectors are identical to the cable. Why pay 100 pounds (and for that matter, why bother producing a high quality wireless system) when the cable will likely fail within a matter of weeks?

We really need to know what these connectors are then someone to knock up a cable set, i reckon they would sell quite well if things carry on as they currently are.
I might pop into a local audio repair specialist, they deal in very high end gear, im sure if i sent in a spare cable they could easily improve on their design with some custom teflon cabling.

That's all well and good but it's up to Sleek Audio to fix the problem. I don't like spending 200 dollars on a set of very enjoyable, high quality IEMs to have them crippled by a 10 dollar cable.
Does anyone have a direct email for Sleek as they don't reply to my on site comments? Cheers.

Yeah I'm a bit annoyed with my cables as well. They haven't actually failed yet luckily, but after 4 months they are virtually hardened to the point of being immovable... I can't even twirl them back into the case anymore -_-

wow guys, i dunno what you doing to your cables...but mine has lasted many many trips in my pocket (not even in a case) with other various items. I think ive used the case 1 time since i got the SA6s at Canjam 08.
I even snagged it a few times at work, ripped the IEM right out of my ear (not that thats hard or anything) but its survived pretty well.

The cables we originally ordered had its flaws for sure. Since then we have found a new manufacturer for our cables. We ended up having 10,000 cables from the first batch that are being filtered out through our distributors. We have not charged anyone for a replacement cable to date and don't plan to until the cable problem is remedied.
As far as the W-1 wireless units, they are made from a different manufacturer. We have had close to no complaints about our wireless units so no worries about purchasing those
By the way, my name is Andrew and you can email me at andrew@sleek-audio.com I'm here to help out Jason and Mark now that they are getting busier and busier.
