They are the mid sized Shure tips. I had to trim the nozzle down about a quarter of an inch on them before they'd fit on the C3s.
The sound is about mid way beween the Mid and Large sized Klipsch oval tips. (good bass with uncompromised highs). The key factor is that they fit in my ears perfectly, they don't loosen, or shift when I smile or yawn, and are very comportable to wear for long periods.

How in the world are your cords bursting like that? Are you people slamming them in car doors or getting them caught in zippers?

Yikes!

It looks like the rubber/plastic sleeve is shrinking?
And the cables within starts to bulge out when they no longer have room to stay inside the sleeve?
Obviously a design/manufacturing error, something that the manufacturers should have fixed when the issues popped up!

I too have the KC3 and mine look exactly like the picture of the L-shaped jack. They've never been caught or slammed on the door, but rather they were pretty bent on arrival. The way they packaged it makes it look like they were folded and the hard cable won't let them straighten out and eventually the outside wears and exposes the inside... I think I'll be sending these in under warranty..

I think Klipsch went with the silly nylon mesh to be different. "Different" is for the better in some cases, in this situation it makes absolutely no logical sense and has created a problem.

If the damn things didn't sound so good I would send them back, but they sound amazing. I just have a hard time recommending these 300 dollar IEM's because of this.

I have written Klipsch customer care an email and have not received an answer. *shrugs shoulders*

After 4 months, the right channel of my C3's started dropping out, and one day I couldn't hear anything at all. There was no damage at all on the cables, as I handle these very carefully and store them in case after each use.

The sound in the right channel sometimes comes back if I move the cable near the plug though. So I would say that either the plug or the internal cabling in that area has failed. Either way, very disappointing for a $300 IEM. The good news is that I returned them to the store where I got them, and they would be sending them to the local distributor to be fixed or replaced. Updates to follow.

By comparison, my Yuin PK2's have been exceptionally tough and durable. I've yanked the cable on them pretty hard about 5 times and had them for more than a year, and they still work perfectly.

Update:

I got my C3's back from the store where I dropped them off to be repaired (they said they would forward it to the local Klipsch distro), after 5 days. Pretty quick, so I was happy with that. The right channel works perfectly fine now, although I could see that the rubber housing of the plug/stress relief is a little loose, probably due to the repairs they did. Hopefully it doesn't warp or fall off over time...I would have preferred that they replace my unit with a new one.

Anyways, the local Klipsch distro did a good job repairing my C3's, so props to them for bringing them back from the dead. But I'm still quite irked that they broke after only 4 months, considering I handled them very carefully.

Any word from Klipsch on plans to address this issue? I have a pair of X10s right now, and within two months I've had cable splitting issues. I was hoping to upgrade to something else, and I like what I hear about these, but more cable issues is a huge turn-away =/

GFdamnit! How could klipsch get these cables SO WRONG?
Did they put ANY thought into designing them, or putting them through real world testing?
