Head-Fi members have been commenting on the name "Custom 1-3". As much as I would like to take more stabs at the names of our new headphone products, it is counterproductive to the real issues at hand. Comfort and Sound. Don’t you think? I list them in that order because I believe that if you don’t have comfort you can’t enjoy the sound as much as if you do.
This is coming from a guy who just got off of a 15 hour plane ride and has had Custom 3’s from mass production stuck in his ears the entire time. ...Oh and my ears don’t hurt at all. Yes you heard me right! My ears don’t hurt AND I have just returned from the factory and can happily say that Klipsch Custom 3 In-Ear Canal Phones are now in mass production. Hark the herald angels sing a new child is born! Well at least one of the children that Dr. Cochlear and I have slaved away to optimize for mass production. It isn’t easy to say the least, but we are ecstatic that yields are higher than expected and the sound ….OMG… But I will let you decide. So as of Friday December 14th, 2007 Custom 3 is officially born or as most would say “in mass production.” I predict we may be out of stock on back order for a while, if the expected demand occurs. We may have 100 factory workers on 3 assembly lines making Klipsch Headphones but at the moment we only have one talented person at the factory that can build this little micro gem. Other operators will be trained, but they will need to have the eyes of an eagle and the steady hands of a surgeon. We currently have less than one hundred headphones built, but the plan is to have 400 sets shipping to our warehouses by the end of year. Happy Hunting….Rock On!

Thank you for keeping us up-to-date, and congratulations on starting mass production.
How about since nearly a hundred Custom-3's are completed, you start an exclusive Head-Fi preorder discount for the first hundred sets and ship them out now for Christmas? ![]() I can dream, can't I?

For those not following the progress at the Klipsch forums, the Custom-3 has been in production since 12/29 and it shouldn't be too long before they are available for sale.
Apparently, a very limited quantity is on the way to the distribution center, but they are all already spoken for (Klipsch employees, perhaps? ).Source

We had a meeting this morning with manufacturing to get updates on production status for headphones. Custom 1 & 2 are producing very well with hardly a reject. IMAGE headphones have had some yield issues on the cosmetics for anodization but now that we have two vendors sourcing the chassis parts production can keep up with the high demand required. The newest model that people have been waiting on is Custom 3. We have shipped a reasonable quantity already, but I believe that they have been distributed to our customers already. This dual driver design we believe will set new standards for the audio industry, competing with higher priced models with additional armatures. The down side is that we have not been able to ramp up as quickly because of several things. All the piece parts are available but we only have one skilled set of hands (excluding the Dr.) that can successfully build the design since precision is a requirement for assembly. Secondarily we have had a test jig malfunction which production has been waiting on for upgrades. This is planned to come on line tomorrow so we will start production again Saturday. I don’t expect the shortages to occur much longer unless demand is higher. I will keep you posted as to our status to sticking Custom 3 in your ear…
