Folks I would ask that we let this go at this point please and get back to picking a logo I would encourage you to discuss why you like one of the finalists over the other as well..

If anyone who particiapted in the contest wants to discuss the process/criteria the selection commitie used I would invite you to pm me and I would be happy to discuss this with you.

Thanks for all involved for the hard work and creative effort put forth.

I voted for #3. It has bright, festive colors and includes everything to do with this hobby (excluding DACs, cabling, & empty bank accounts).

Excellent work on everyone's part that contributed , except those who complained about the final picks .

I envy those with the ability for art. I almost majored in advertising art except for the fact that I wanted a job with lower pay, more stress and working with my hands and getting my fingernails dirty.
I got what I wanted...now I want something else

I was poking fun at the pitcher of beer comment. No need to get upset.

I voted #8 because I like it.

I could of gone either with #1 or #3, both are simple yet eye catching. I ended up choosing #3 because of the color scheme, but I easily could of gone #1 too.

OK, I've refrerainsed from commetning on the whole design crirticsim thing. but ok. I've ahda a few, and now I'm not suhutting up.

NO where in the contest rules did it wasay that only proeffessionals with esxpereience need aplly.

This is a fun tcontest for members here. amatures, professionals and wannanabes alike.

So whiat if most used a commona techiniqie everyone and their grandmother usesss. ?

Get a grip. Grow some thicker skin, guys. Graphic deisng and logos aren't my primary businesss. My wprofessional work involes industrial designn rather than graphic design. But either wayw I prodvide deisng work professsionally. I've withheld makig coments, but now I'm a little tipsy, and I son't wshut up now.

Vote, enyjoy, and then plan on howw you are going to ogo to CanJam an d enjouy youtrself. If you jsut want to play armchair designer, go register on Conceptart.org, or deviantart forums. THIS IS HEAD_FI!!!!!!

OK,. I'm done. Cathca all later when I've lslept it off.

That does say Tyll, doesn't it?

All you need to do is toss in a bottle of scotch and he'll show you where he's tattooed it!

Although I voted for #1, I do like aspects of others.
I'd like to take this time and run through some of the nice and bad things that I find about each logo:

#1: I love the compactness of this logo, and yet it still has quite a bit of information. The colors really appeal to me. My only gripe is the elliptical (exponential decay) shading/greying. I think it detracts from the logo. However, if it was left just the way it is on the first 3 letters "CAN", and not used on the rest, that would have been pimp'in! Like I said before, there is horrible text that is hidden in the white part that really catches my eye. I *assume* that the text would be left out of the final version. If not, YUCK!

#2: This was nice because it incorporated fun florida themes, such as boating, palm trees, and aircraft. It's just....... the headphones............... I don't know, they seem too big and distracting. It's very big too.

#3: is really nice, what with the cd player/cd and the headphones with wave between them. I like the colors too. My only complaint there is the elliptical grey mask over the bottom half....... its so big and the angle just doesn't *do it* for me. I really would have had a hard time considering between #3 and #1 had #3 not used this effect.

#4: This is nice because it incorporates florida into the design. Sadly though, I don't really draw a J from it, and so the logo as a whole isn't instantly apparent. The arm is a little creepy to boot.
The "by author" text doesn't add anything to me, and only takes away from the simplicity of the logo.

#5: Ed, wonderfuly done. All the info is there, and it has nice fit and finish (to a degree I would never achieve). Only thing that I'm not crazy for is the size. With all the detail, it needs to be big to be readable. I have no idea how the logo is going to be used........ whether if it's going to be a badge, or a banner, or whatnot... but for cases where a small logo is needed, this would be tough.

#6: I like the florida theme. The palm trees are horribly pixelated though (a big detractor), and I'm not sure if this was intended or just............ was it copied from somewhere? That's the impression I get from it. The tiny headphones over the background are also a little out of place when I look at it. Text is a cool font though!

#7: I like the text for this, except the elliptical shading/greying. It really distracts me. The headphones were an interesting concept, but they turned out looking like 2 mice. Also, the headphones are effecting the color of the text, which for me might not have been the best choice. Cool general concept though.

#8: I liked both of his entries, though the orange'ish red one was perhaps my preference. Technically they are very nice, but they are lacking information on the meet. Plus, I really hate the Latin (?). I don't know, but trying to read it really ticks me off. Now had that been in english, this would have been a serious contender for me.

Yup, so that's what I thought. Take no offense to my negative aspects of your logo.... only try and learn what you can from them, or just ignore me ^_^.

Thanks for the feedback Towert7. Here's a version without the glossy effects just for you!

To be honest, I think that this is how you'd use the logo 90% of the time anyway. The glossy stuff is really only at home on the web in my opinion - like I said earlier in this thread, I prefer it without the eye candy too.

Oh yea, I like that much better. I seriously would have had a tough time decided between that and #1. I don't know which I would have chosen.
