Probably don't have the best chicken wings either. But we could start a fight in the bar over what's on the TV. That's always fun!

I would not mind finding a good seafood/rawbar because good ones are non-existent in Chicago. But, these are best (in my opinion) at sunset, and I will be in after that - maybe Saturday afternoon. Thus, I could be persuaded to do just about anything especially if it involves a good bar fight over sports on televsion.

sushi takara has excellent sushi but it might be a little too inland from embassy suites. however if you are up for a 25-30 minute ride, im sure you will enjoy it.
some friendly advice - do NOT order teriyaki chicken. it is on the menu but it is the only item that they announce out loud when you request for it..."sir, did you mark teriyaki chicken on here?" and then everyone in the restaurant proceeds to give you the dirtiest look they can muster. having said that, their teriyaki chicken is rather yummy so you should give it a try.
linkey - Sushi Takara: SouthFlorida.com
ive never been in a "bar" (been to clubs but never just a bar except for a pool hall but thats not really a bar) or a "fight." wouldnt mind being in either or a combination thereof.
also, i wonder if any bars will have hockey on any of their tv's...not really that big of a sport down here but who knows. one might be surprised.

Anybody interested? Any sportsbar places nearby that might be coerced into showing the game? I'd promise to buy mass quantities of beer and chicken wings...

Pete, there is an Original Steakhouse & Sports Theater in the shopping center next door to the hotel. They have a big bar and lots of big screens.

This is another easy one. Across the street and to the right of the hotel is the Southport Shopping Center. There is a place called the Southport Raw Bar. I haven't been there in years but I used to go at least once a week when my office was downtown.

I'm hoping to get a little settled in and have that cold beer Mike has promised me before I embark on any adventures, but I do get in at 1:30pm, so I'm sure I can meet up with everyone for dinner.
If anyone has taken the reigns to organize this, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my mobile number.

My advice to you:
- Use your own ears as everybody's hearing and preferences are different.
- Try to audition as much equipment as possible to find your sound.
- Buy used to save money.

lan ... what day/time do you get in. More importantly, what photo gear are you bringing ... us Canon guys need to know.
Don't worry about parties and sights ... you are with the Florida posse ... we will take care of you.

I'm getting in Friday afternoon at the same time as Edwood. I've forgotten when that was though
Well I was primarily going to film video so I'm bringing my camcorder rig with a light and a mic. I figured most people would have nice DSLRs. If I'm bringing a camera it will be my Nikon P3 or D300. Probably not what you're expecting right? How many Canon fellas are there? you, HighLife, and?

I'll be bringing my HD Video rig as well, so I'll be "B" Camera. Mostly shooting room shots for montage stuff.
My Nikon D80 is staying at home, no way I can carry that much stuff.
