That's actually another idea too. Instead of having an annual (Inter)National meet, it could be bi-annual with large regional meets on the off-years.
Northeast regional in NY/Boston
Southeast in FL/DC
Northwest in SF...etc.
Southwest..... not sure there
Middle in.... well the middle somewhere.

Wherever the next meet may be, the first priority needs to be a location that's easy for a lot of members to get to and bring/ship their gear. Regardless of vendors, it's still the member rigs and member attendance that make it a meet rather than just a trade show. Then you've got to have a team of locals willing to work at planning for months, which means a team that likes each other a lot, is flexible, supportive, even when things go wrong, and pretty responsible. Without those two, it's really hard to have a large scale meet.
I'd like to see one in the Detroit, Chicago area only because of location, but DC certainly has a great location and members that can pull this off.
I'd like to see a meet overseas, but I agree with others that have posted saying first pull off a large-scale meet with vendor attendance. I like jp11801's idea about holding meets at the same time.

It will be good in somewhere central US...
As per international and going abroad pretty much all have said with the difference that I do not agree on the traveling issue, manufatirers have crossed the US many times, Tyll come all the way from Montana, and honestly if you are going to travel it doesn't matter where, the hassle, bags, hotel booking, etc....is the same, and t obe on a plain, to anyplace in the world, is IMO a hassle for itself, it doesn't matter for how long. Costwise? Well all depends on where, when and how...
Now it is true that we have not seen any outside US meeting to be so populated and to travel so far, just for the fun of that, could be a problem for us, also the majority of the members are located in US...

Yeah, the last three have been East Coast - West Coast - East Coast, so maybe it's time to get the midwesterners in on the action!

I've already floated it with a few people, but I am cool with doing it either next year or the year after. I think a case can be made that the main body of the east coast has been longer since a big meet than the west coast, since south florida wasn't really driving distance from anyone outside of florida.
I say Baltimore would be better rather than actually in DC itself. I can only imagine the Airport security is even more a PITA than anywhere else.
Other than that, I'd love to see it happen in Seattle someday, only because I've never been to Seattle.

I'm somewhat surprised NOLA hasn't been considered, if only for the legendary location itself. Not too sure how many members count it as their haunt, though I have a certain favourite head-fier that lays down in the grass out that way.
Something tells me he can party.

BWI airport is actually 15 minutes outside of Baltimore in MD. The only airport in DC is Reagan National.
Having flown in and out of BWI I can say that the security is no worse than any other large city airport like Boston or Chicago.

I don't know... I think having the next national meet in NOLA just so that you can make out with Sam is a bit of a stretch there Ryan.

That all depends on just how many of us would like to go down and make out with Sam, no?
