I would love to see it in Chicago! My family lives in Evanston, just south of NWU--so I have a home-base there, as it were.

Chicago is a FANTASTIC selection for a city to host an international meet. Question is, who is going to step up and commit to running it and making it a success?

I am throwing my support behind the LA team. My sources are telling me they are ready, willing and able to pull it off.

My first choice would be Baltimore/DC. (Well really NYC or Boston but I know that isn't going to happen.) But if it is down to LA vs. Chicago I would rather go Chicago.

Son, all I've ever asked of my fellow headfiers is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the LA Team, because inside every LA headfier there is a Florida headfier trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, NYC craze blows over.

As I'm the one who put forward to run DC/Baltimore, and I'm backing LA at this point, I agree Mike

We could always try driving to Hawaii to cut down on travel expense...

If the date can be set for the middle of May, then I'm in for helping out however I can. Anyone else willing?
I might add that a little faith in Chicago would be much appreciated as well; the lack of confidence annoys me.

A meet in LA would mean another red eye all-nighter for me on Sunday/Monday...
...after careful consideration...
...I wouldn't miss it for the world, wherever it is.
Just make sure the hotel has an outside pool and indoor plumbing

There's history to be considered.

During the time I have been a member on Head-Fi (which I'll admit, isn't terribly lengthy), I've seen that Chicago has held witness to several highly successful and rather large mini-meets. All we can prove now is that we've got the willpower and manpower.
For everyone's information, I'm putting something in motion for Chicago. I won't sit back and let LA receive the nomination without making it a fight .

what you may not know is Chicago was the announced location for the 2008 meet and due to internal issues the meet was moved to a different location. Now Chicago and the folks there are great and Billy and company have hosted some large and very successful meets since that time but that is the reason.
Florida stepped in and hosted the event to keep the ball rolling.
I would think that in order to be meet ready a team would have to be in place that understands the enormity of the task. This is unlike hosting a local in many ways.

Aaron if it all works out you are guaranteed indoor plumbing and a pool is a possibility. Just think you can dive the kelp beds in a 5 mil wet suit
