Actually the first year was "The First (Inter)National Head-Fi Meet", or something of the like. Voltron called it Headfest, but we were having none of that so it's now CanJam.
Whoever gets it next year needs to call it Bob's World of Headphones, even if no-one named Bob is involved.

Not so fast, Sparky ... not just anyone can be a CanJam '08 groupie/roadie. First some qualifying questions, if you don't mind ... - Are you big, strong, and not overly smart?
- Will you work long hours for a chance to listen to gear?
- Can you get by on 3 hours sleep?
- Do you revere Queen boomana?
- Is a Hawaiian shirt suitable formal wear?
- Does music rock your mortal soul?
Answer yes to 4 or more of the above, and you are on the "maybe the kid can help" list.
5 yesses gets you a free night sleeping on Lauderdale Beach, and
6=yes makes you automatic for the people. Just tell us how to reach you on Thurs before CJ '08 weekend, 'cause you are in the Florida Posse.

How come I had to put on a dress and run up and down Fort Lauderdale Beach to become a member? Oh yeah, I like doing that.

The rest of it is about the hardcore BSing, boozing, and schmoozing. Expect at least the first 5 pages of these impressions to be completely free of mentions of gear. We're having our own Fear and Loathing here people, and I don't really know if you should feel honored to be an observant of the insanity. Either way, the insanity goes on and we will record it in the best fragments we can manage. May God help us all.
I'm ripping off Flecom's image to give you all a visual guide to most of the members present. Something I usually wish for when reading an impressions thead:
Back row: Boomana (Vicky), Guss2 (Gary)& Xenia, Voltron (Al)
Middle: Mikhail, Hifihaxor (? sorry man), PsychoZX (Joe), * , Tyll, Melinda (no not with the cap, that's: ), Highlife (Dominic), Agile_one (Gene), MikeG, Tyrion (the other Mike), Nightwoundstime (me! Matt), WMcmanus (Wayne).
Front row: The providers of much slapstick comedy for the evening, Ray Samuels and Stevieo.
* Wayne's friend whose name I will not attempt to spell, since I only barely learned to pronounce it. I know you signed up man so drop me a PM and I'll name you properly.

[*]Are you big, strong, and not overly smart?
yes, maybe, and huh?
[*]Will you work long hours for a chance to listen to gear?
is "duh" a word?
[*]Can you get by on 3 hours sleep?
not to brag, but ive been in college for 3 years working towards a math and philosophy double major and minors in computer science and psychology, 3 hours of sleep is something i look forward to during breaks
[*]Do you revere Queen boomana?
well...she does have a pair of r10s and seems rather cool on the forums...but then again she likes apple! UGH its dead even >< ah hell why not, LONG LIVE QUEEN BOOMANA!!! hoozah!
[*]Is a Hawaiian shirt suitable formal wear?
ive never owned one so i cant say for myself but i dont see why it wouldnt be suitable. i ended up at a thanksgiving dinner at my friends' grandparents' house wearing a pair of denim shorts and a grey shirt...so a hawaiian shirt would actually be quiet an upgrade
[*]Does music rock your mortal soul?
who the hell listens to music?...i like listening to pink noise through my headphones.

5/6...not too bad for my first head fi quiz.

Dom .. nice of you to bring back that pic. That's the Tyll I know and love ... a true audio pioneer and entrepeneur with a soft spot for babies and FL crazies. Long live Tyll and HeadRoom ... we love ya, mountain man.
Here's another of grandpa Tyll ...
Sorry, It's actually a pic from the same series, but you all get the point ... Tyll is a pussycat with babies.

Ray looks like he is going to pop a corpuscle. Sorry I missed it.
Ah, the good ole days when Stevieo was still half-sane.

That pic does make him look like shooter... I bet you were watching Happy Gilmore on tv yesterday... I flipped it on for a bit too!

Anyone remember what that sign on Stevie's shirt said? Oh yeah, just read it, Banned! I did make him drink the backwash of all the random drinks sitting around though. Coffee, whiskey, rum, beer, all the abandoned cups got dumped into a big punch bowl and Stevie got a nice concoction, which he readily drank when I handed it to him.
One more edit to notice the look of pure satisfaction on Mikhail's face.

This was the best picture that I could find of myself (along w/ my Head-Fi motto):
