I'm new to this Can Jam festival. If I wanted to come what are the basic activities? Listening to new headphones at vendors booths and stuff?
It's $20 unless you are a student and then it's $10. The dinner and concert Sat. night are $25. The main meet room is more than 3,000 sq.ft. and will have about 20 vendor tables with gear to check out and listen to. There are about 20 member tables with their personal rigs for you to check out and listen to. There will be 5 or 6 large rooms with individual vendors and their gear. If you are that close, you would be crazy to miss this.

Auuggggghhh! I live in the area, and have been a member here for a while, but I have final exams all the following week! Worst possible timing, as it will be my final week of college exams ever!

How could it possibly affect your life if you spent a day at CanJam instead of studying for your last set of finals? Very short-sighted thinking. As a senior in college, I would expect you to be blowing off these finals anyway, and with this kind of an once-in-a-lifetime event in your back yard you are crazy to miss it! Priorities! Get 'em straight!
In all honesty, don't miss this chance. Take a breather, hear some music, and then go back to the books. You'll be a better person for it.

I agree with you about it being a great opportunity and it could be a planned break for me. I may actually be able to plan ahead and make my way up there for Saturday for a while. I'd get the student discount, anyway, not that I really care about the money. I'll be driving from Coral Gables, so it'll probably take a lot of the day up if I really want to make it worth it.
I actually really do need to do well on those finals, though, man. The usual senior attitude of blowing off finals does not apply when one has the very real chance of failing the classes in question! I am an Engineering student, not some Basket Weaver.
On a side note, both my high end cans are broken at the moment, and neither company that makes them will be there! My Grados are cracked on each side of the frame where you adjust them, and my Etymotics actually broke off at the little small shaft on one of the buds, meaning they are done. I might be able to get one of the headphone mod aficionados tell me what to do to fix the Grados.
Edit: Is there a tentative schedule (at least the opening and closing hours for each day?) I searched the thread and couldn't find anything.

I would really love to attend but I am going to a conference in California that weekend! What bad luck I have.
Maybe next year!

I'm just curious, does the Hotel run a shuttle bus to and from the airport? If so, What time does it operate until? More specifically on late friday night and then again on Sunday early afternoon?

Happened to me twice (one time was my fault) and they replaced it free of charge. Give them a call.
In the meantime, I'll see you at the meet!

it's probably at most a $10.00 cab ride if they don't, they're very close to the Ft. Laud. airport.

beware, florida cabs can be very annoying. a few companies have a 15 dollar minimum charge policy that they never mention before its time to pay up. and then they ask you extra for luggage and other nonsensical charges. actually happened to a friend of mine so just a little word of caution in case anyone takes the cab.

Head- Fi Canjam payment
I purchased a Head-Fi Canjam ticket last week. Do I have to bring a copy of the receipt with me?

I would bring it just in case but I don't believe it will be necessary. When you show up, give your username at the CanJam registration that will be set up and you're in. I will have more info as we get closer.

if you guys need any deckhands setting the place up or with organizational things in general let me know. just got my exam schedule and ill be free after thursday morning that week so i shall have time. and im in the area as well so thought id offer in case you still need more people to help out. being a math major im ok with numbers and i can lift heavy things up and thats about the limit of the things i can help out with. do not put me on food duty or around shiny toys because when you come back you might find that both are in my stomach!
just send me a pm mike or i can give you my number later on as we get closer to can jam in case you need any help.
good golly am i excited! i shall no longer be a canjam virgin!!!

This is the first year for the jam of cans, so everyone gets to be a virgin.
The last 2 years were festivals of head.
