Announcement: Location of CanJam 2009...
The CanJam 2009 Organizing Committee is excited to announce that the next Head-Fi International Meet is coming to Los Angeles. This year's committee features the midnight-oil-burning team of JP11801 (John), 909 (David), Velogreg (Greg), Edwood (Ed), LFF (Luis), and Iron_Dreamer (Peter). We will be recruiting local victims, errr…volunteers as the event approaches to assist with set-up, logistics, hospitality, and spreading word of the event to other audio communities. If you are a SoCal Head-Fi member with the desire to be a part of the biggest headphone meet of all time, don't worry, we'll need your support! Those outside the L.A. area can help by spreading the word, and making sure that everyone in your corner of the globe knows that this is an event not to be missed!
CanJam 2009 will pick up where the superb efforts of organizing teams in New York, San Jose, and South Florida left off, giving attendees the widest possible variety of headphone listening experiences and entertaining extracurriculars, thanks to generous members and affable vendors. We are designing this event to be the most accessible yet, and expect it to be the most heavily attended Head-Fi event in history. Have no doubts, the bar will rise, as surprises will heighten the National Meet experience, and set an example for the many great host cities surely to follow.
Definite information regarding the specifics of CanJam 2009 will be announced over the course of the next several months. As soon as we can secure the proper accommodations for an event of such awesomeness, an announcement of location, dates, and other pertinent specifics will be forthcoming. Look for it by the end of September.
So what do you need to do now? Start your CanJam fund today, after all, you have a year to get ready! Put down that Mocha Frappamachiactto Soy Latte and stuff that extra $6 a day into your CanJam mattress account (if you don't blow it on MORE headphones!) Start working on your wife/husband/significant other/boss now to get the time off. When your (grand)children look in you the eye and say "Papa, where were you during CanJam 2009?", do you want to tell them that you didn't attend? Don't be like those sad sacks that missed Woodstock, The Beatles at Shea Stadium, Jake and Elwood's benefit concert for the orphanage, CanJam 2008…

Awesome. Once again I'll have to put in my apologies tho, as I'm about 99% sure I won't be able to make it.

At last! A major head-fi meet in my area. I've been waiting 8 years for this! Oh, what will I listen to? A fabled set of R-10? Sony MDR-3000? Micro Zotl? (are those still around). So much equipment I read about for years and never heard!

Great to see that the location have been set.
Even if I personally would have preferred a location longer east (perhaps even on the east cost of the Atlantic ocean).
I will try to make my way over. But no promises...

i just checked expedia for a hypothetical weekend in 2009 in may and the cheapest ticket RIGHT NOW is 300 bucks didnt expect them to be this expensive already. i know it is too soon to ask but is there a tentative date set already or have you guys not even started working out those fine details?
apologies for the impatience
lff, is your avatar from searle's cover? looks familiar but i dont remember the guy wearing a pair of grados on the book

unlikely it's going to be the first weekend in May, possibly the last and check priceline as they are typically less expensive than expedia, but looking right yet seems premature. where would you be traveling from?

well the first week of may next year was as far as expedia went which is why i quoted the price for that time. i have no plans of booking the flight right now, i just wanted to get a feel for how much it would cost for a cross country flight.
would be flying in from fll (fort lauderdale) probably/hopefully with with team florida. 15% chance would be from boston but probably not because i would have to move all my stuff back home first before i go anywhere else.
on a brighter note, my sister and dad are spending the summer in india so i might be able to mooch some frequent flyer miles off of their accounts :very evil:

That's the spirit. Huzzah!
On another note, I apologize for being 100% sure that I WILL make it. Sorry.
And on yet another note, is the 1% related to some kind of large bird picking you up and dropping you into our laps? Seems that 1% is a bit of a high statistical probability, but perhaps you've experience with such things in the past?
