I have a copy reserved for me. Release date is Monday I think for Canada. This game and Assassin's Creed are the only games in recent memory (in fact likely since Super Mario 3 for me!) that I have been excited for a game.
What luck then that SM3 gets released on the VC this week!
I didn't know Wii games could be downloaded. Is a mod chip required? I wouldnt' want to be hacking my system...but I'm not a major gamer.
I haven't been this excited since Mario 64.
Mod chip for Wii's been out for quite some time now. They can be had for around $10-15. It requires soldering but it's easily reversible and i'm sure DIY'er here would have no issues.

I'm not really interested in the mod chip route. I was just curious if one existed or not. I knew of the PS2 ones but not the Wii. Even though "pirating" is quite en vogue with many, having been involved on the cs side of things for quite a few years now I can acknowledge the amount of work that goes into games and I actually do want to support the teams that create them. Also, price/entertainment value on a game that I buy (I buy VERY few because I don't game much) is far greater than anything else I invest my entertainment dollars in. If a game has intense replayability then the value goes up so much higher.
So for a game of typical 15-25 hours of gameplay at the new cost of 60ish CAD that is a mere $4 max/hr of entertainment value. Get a game that takes 60-100 hrs to complete on the first run and one gets a ton of value. I don't want to rob anyone of that. For myself and my wife, casual gamers, $5 for VC games like SuperMario 3 and $20 for brand new GameCube games gives us a ton of value which we really appreciate.
I'm getting it for my B-Day or Christmas... can't wait.
