My external drive works via USB. I don't know what you're doing wrong. All you need to do is dump the .mp3 files via flash drive and it will sort it by ID3 tags.

Why do you want the price lower? $400 for a Blu-Ray, SACD, console, and more compare to Xbox 360. If you want any lower go to eBay and you might find a $300 one.
I don't mind the console's price, but more of the games' prices. Maybe after all the classic titles already out (Metal Gear, FF, etc), I will consider getting one.
I think that VF 4 and VF 4 evolution are great, great games. VF 5 is the main game making me seriously considering purchasing a PS3. So far all that's stopping me is I don't think any of my friends right now would be interested in playing that type of game.
My favorite fighting game was Street Fighter II until I overplayed it.
Then I got, Dead or Alive Ultimate which has good graphics but the game play wasn't that great. Blocking wasn't very consistent and it was hard to do counter moves.
I also got Soul Caliber III or IV, but I didn't really enjoy that game either.
Sword fighting isn't as interesting as kick boxing for me.
I also got King of the Fighters and Guilty Gear but it was like stepping back in time and I didn't want to play old 2D games anymore.
So far I like VF5. It has the best graphics I've seen and the blocking and counter punching is pretty responsive. Only thing I would criticize the game on is that all the fighters move differently with a wide variety of fighting styles. You get small tiny and gigantic fighters. You almost have to change your fighter depending on who you fight. Because one fighter does alot of high kicks, which works great with a tall opponent, but with a short one you always miss their head. I would prefer if everyone was just a karate fighter with a small variation of moves. Sometimes you press the kick button a couple of times and the fighter does some combos moves, but I prefer they just do one simple move twice. But overall I think it is definately worth the $40 bucks I paid for it.

The $400 dollar version doesn't have SACD capability.
I own a PSP. While the title selection is somewhat lackluster, I really enjoy playing Socom 1 and 2 (I hear there's another one out now as well, though I don't really know anything about it other than it's more of a tactical game, due to the name, tactical strike).
The system really shines when it comes to homebrew. I just picked up a 4 GB MS Duo on Black Friday for this task, along with the backups of my games so there's no need to carry the UMD's around.

I was wondering how I can play my mp3 files on the PS3.
I have all my mp3 files on an external hard drive for my computer.
I was hoping the PS3 would recognize by ext. hard drive, but it doesn't.
When I connect the PS3 by the usb cable, the PS3 does not recognize my hard drive.
Does anyone know how to get the PS3 to recognize the mp3 files on my hard drive?
I think the PS3 does not recognize NTSF formated drives. My guess is that this is creating your problem. I believe it recognizes FAT32, but you may want to check out their website to be sure.
If you have your ps3 on the same network as the computer that is connected to your hard drive, you can use Tversity (a free program on the net) to access the mp3s via Tversity. Like I mentioned, you can also get photos and video via the same program..

Yes, thus far it is FAT32 only so you need to use a streaming software package..alas no samba then I run mediatomb and it works likea charm. I'm VERY interested in replacing the hard drive though from 60 to 500 or more. My wife would be thrilled too, we could load our cd collection on the PS3 instead of having to stream.
I have virtua fighter and assassin's creed. I have only played them a bit though, mostly playing ps2 games at the moment. I have to say the PS3 was the best birthday gift I have received in quite a long time.

Cool, thanks for the comments. The things you don't like are actually what I think makes VF so great.
I really enjoy having to totally adapt my fighting style depending on which fighter I am against, and even depending on which human opponent I am against. Last year a few friends and I played literally thousands of fights, and I still feel that there is a lot of improvements I can make in technique. The game is so deep it's a little intimidating for me.
Any owners here? I have PlayStation 1 (SCPH-1001), PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 3. I recently upgraded my PS3's HDD to 300GB and stored all of my music on it (320kbps). I am waiting for PS3's update to DivX so I can play all my DVD's on the HDD. I am enjoying Blu-Ray's 1080p and 7.1 Dolby TrueHD. I also have it tied to my computer via wi-fi so I can stream videos and music from it. Also I just bought a PSP GPS which is very helpful to me because my old GPS broke and don't want to spend $100+ for a GPS. I am still exploring the unexplored features of PS3 and PSP. I am currently playing Uncharted and Warhawk on PS3 and Metal Gear and Vice City Stories on PSP.
Just out of curiosity, which HDD do you have? I'm looking to upgrade my laptop HDD but I can't find anything over 250GB.
