I just noticed that these cases are relatively cheap in comparison to some of the camera backpacks. I'm looking at the pelican 1502/1524, they run about 180usd MAX. Being water proof, dusts proof, high impact resistance, and chemical proof <200 bucks for a case seems to be a very good deal! heck even the military uses them. I was wondering if anybody here has experience with pelican cases. I know people with the top end UE phones should have something to say have you run the case over with your car to see if it's still in one piece?
Pelican cases rock. I've used them quite a bit for SCUBA trips. They float, they're indestructible and anything you put in them usually comes out in the same condition. Highly recommended if you're OK with the bulk and hardness.
Yeah I'm ok with it being bulky, it's the protection that matters. There's a typo with the case model, it's the 1504/1524...gotta figure out which size I need. They don't cost too much either!
I still have a mini trekker that I carry most of my cam stuff out, but I'm thinking of getting a hard case so that I can toss it in the car trunk and not have to worry about my equipments getting destroyed
I've got 8 or 9 of them of various sizes. The smallest holds a Sony MD recorder with a portable mic pre-amp. Most of them hold camera equipment. They're great! Also, they're guaranteed for life. The foam inserts offer the best protection, while the padded divider inserts offer the most flexibility and more usable space.

I have several Pelican cases. I keep my Grado GS1000's in one. They are great. Pelican cases are incredibly tough. I know of Pelican cases being run over by an SUV and surviving with a few scratches.
Have you guys try submerging your cases to verify that they are indeed waterproof? I've read that several owners' cases leak but most people's cases do the job as advertised.

I tested one case in my pool under water with nothing in it, it was dry inside.
I also almost had one swim away from a boat once, when the case fell in it went under water but came back up quickly...inside was dry.

I think this has everything to do with the rubber gasket that creates the seal. Cleaning it with soapy water every once in a while ( not often) would probably help keep everything water tight. Of course if the gasket is damaged at all, even a small nick, it would need to be replaced.
