I see on the internet that people are selling all kinds of watches from the 1930s and 1940s, etc.. I find this very fascinating and would love to own one. One ebay seller is selling an old vintage watch and he states that his grandfather used to wear it.
This struck a cord in me. He *used* to wear it. It made me realize that the original owners of these vintage watches are probably already dead.
How would you feel about wearing a vintage watch of someone who is already dead? Would it make you a little nervous that perhaps his ghost is watching you? I know it's a strange question but the idea of wearing a dead person's watch is a little thought provoking to say the least. That being said, many of these old watches are very classy, even the budget ones too.
Did you ever stop to think that someone years ago may have died in your house? Perhaps in your bedroom!
Vintage watches are cool, but they require upkeep. You have to get them cleaned regularly or they grind to a halt. They aren't as durable as modern watches either, particularly if they are a dress watch.
i have bought and owned and serviced a lot of vintage watches, a lot would have been worn by someone that was probably dead. izts part of life and i find it fascinating that when the owners heart has stopped their beloved timepiece keeps ticking and gives others pleasure, like a transplant of sorts!!

I have several watches that belonged to dead family members, as well as a number of other watches and other antiques that probably belonged to someone not among the living.
I like to think the deceased would be happy if they knew I was caring for their property and planning to pass it on when I go. It's not creepy to me, it's a connection to someone else.
My dining room table was made, most likely, in the teens last century. The dings, scratches and other marks on the top bear evidence of some 90 years of meals and dozens, if not hundreds, of people. I think that's amazing. Hopefully the table's future owners will love it, too.

it's the vintage fashion thing.
but if you start thinking about it
i guess it never stops.
what matters is that you own
it now and you take care of it.
so who cares. lol
