Yeah, the model numbering over here is quite confusing...

I just PM'd the seller and told him not to wait for me; I hate telling people I'm very interested, then I back out.

I'm just so antsy that I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and buying the XSi. I think I'd go crazy with an XS, always reminding myself that I was always so close to the actual camera model that I feel in love with at the store.

But then that means I'll need to allocate more money away from my audio renovation and more into lenses. But I should be able to do that...I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

I don't know what step I finally want to take, but I do know that lately I've got major insomnia just thinking about this.

Normally I'd agree with the "go big or go home" philosophy, but you're only giving up 2 mega pixels and a 1/2 inch of screen real-estate to save (presumably) 2-3 hundred dollars. The body and feel of the XS will nearly mimic that of the XSi you fell in love with, and, really, any visible resolution decrease between 10 and 12 megapixels (if it can be at all seen) will be nullified by the better lenses you'll purchase from the price difference. Again, I'm usually a proponent of budget pushing and model climbing, but in photography, you're better off sticking to that thought when buying lenses, not bodies.

True, the differences are minor and slight...

Canon EOS 1000D / Digital Rebel XS Hands-on Preview: 2. Comparison:

...but they all do add up, and they still make me wonder.

LOL I'll be sure to take epic pictures of me running away as my dad chases me out of the house flailing the credit card statement in the air.
