Default Hard drive camcorders
Last night I read something about them recording to some strange format that isn't very friendly to editing. Is this true? My brother is getting one for Christmas and I don't want him to end up with a useless piece of junk

Mine does mpeg4. It is not the best for extensive editing...but does any home-user really do extensive editing? You can still do basic editing stuff.

Crappy picture quality compared to SD MiniDV cameras. Not that it really matters for home videos and whatnot.
