PCMag.com who listed the MacBook Pro as the fastest Windows Vista notebook for 2007.
The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year--or for that matter, ever--is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro's PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway's E-265M by a single point, but the MacBook's score is far more impressive simply because Apple couldn't care less whether you run Windows.
Headphoneus Supremus: Videographus Supremus: Makes audio cables using super-advanced materials, like "some clear tape" and "some not so clear tape."
That's great but if people were really interested in a faster windows they'd be using WinXP. Supposedly SP3 for XP makes it even faster.

My advice to you:
- Use your own ears as everybody's hearing and preferences are different.
- Try to audition as much equipment as possible to find your sound.
- Buy used to save money.

The fastest tested, bet they didn't try the the Asus C90.
With an Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme 2.93GHz FSB1066 4MB desktop (conroe) processor in a 15.4" form factor it kicks the pants of most desktops. It also automatically overclocks your processor by up to 20% for that extra boost of power.
I think it would win.
This post is basically flamebait. It does show that Macs have very competitive hardware, but the result is only among those laptops that the magazine tested, and the bigger issue is that anyone who cares about performance is not running Vista anyway. Vista benchmarks so much slower than XP (particularly SP3 beta) that "fastest Vista notebook" is a questionable accolade. Of course, you could always run OS X on the Macbook Pro....

So Apple makes a slightly faster notebook then Alienware, Dell, or Toshiba. Big deal....I'd hardly say that makes it the "fastest" notebook ever. Of course a lot of computers are faster then Alienwares, because they tend to be DOA!
Also, in regards to OS....there are going to be differences with either XP, OS X, or Vista for that matter. Each one also has the potential for being faster then another at certain tasks. I do find Vista to still have some bugs with 32bit programs, but my 64bit programs seem to scream along.

The fastest Vista notebook is the one that gets thrown off a cliff.
Amen to that. Or dropped from the International Space Station. Imagine, hitting the atmosphere at orbital velocity... that's one FLAMING notebook.

Heard it before yeah, that's funny indeed. Makes you wonder and makes me lol..
SP3.....hmmm, wonder how many drivers they're gonna kick out of that since SP2 lost so many drivers from "older" cameras compared to the one before.
