Default Erasing a Windows NT Format HDD Using OSX?

I took the HDD out of my old windows computer (parted it out here on head-fi) and I bought an external inclosure on newegg and the installation was no problem.

When I plug it into my macbook (USB2.0) it says that I have Read Only Permissions.

This is understandable, but is there anyway to format the HDD and use it as a backup for my macbook?

thanks head-fi i am glad you are back up!

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility, select the hard drive, then click format.
