Default Bluetooth mice.

I have a mac mini, and at present I am using it with my old OEM Microsoft wireless mouse (with the Mac keyboard, for keyboard layout and vanity purposes). I am not considering replacing the mouse with a bluetooth one in order to free up a USB port.

BUT, bluetooth mice are a rare and tricksy breed, it seems. The "mighty mouse" is an abomination of ergonomics, doesn't fit the hand properly and the "whole-mouse-moves-not-just-the-button" is a nagging pain in the proverbials.

The standard logitech offering that I can find, the "v470" (in all of it's various colours and flavours) looked fine, until I spotted it was a "laptop mouse", which in marketing speak means "to-damn-small-to-be-used-by-humans-with-full-sized-hands". The same appears to go for the 'standard' offering from microsoft as well. the "5000".

Is there such a thing as a genuinely ergonomic, full-sized bluetooth mouse, designed for use by adult humans, or do I need hand surgery to adapt to the mighty mouse?

Well, I've never heard of one. Here are all of the bluetooth mice sold by Newegg and Tigerdirect. In my experience if neither of these two companies sells it, it either doesn't exist or you don't want it. Give these a try.

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Bluetooth Mouse, Bluetooth Laser Mouse, Bluetooth Mice TigerDirect.com

I can tell you that the Logitech VX Revolution is a great full-size wireless mouse that uses a USB port. I doubt that's actually useful to you, though.

Edit: Another option would be to purchase a USB hub if you're having trouble plugging in all of your devices.

Sony does one. I played with it in a Sony Centre and it felt OK.

Looks like we might have a candidate from newegg...
Newegg.com - Microsoft 4CH-00012 Aluminium 5 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 - Mouse
But peculiar mixed reviews. Some raving saing it's easy, some saying it's unmitigated rubbish. Very strange. Shilling?

EDIT: Hadn't found a sony one, but will continue hunting...

The main problem with all of these seems to be battery life. Some people quoting 2 weeks for a set of batteries. I get about a year at least from a set for my current mouse... VERY strange...

EDIT 2: Amazon.com: Sony VGPBMS33/B Bluetooth® Laser Mouse: Electronics
This mouse?

Ah yes. One of those. I had one, and gave it away thinking I wouldn't need it. The mac wired keyboard, with its two little usb slots should have been fine. BUT, of course they are unpowered , which I thought was fine (never charge stuff from USB) until I found I couldn't update my iPod through them. Bum.

I could, of course, plug the dongle for my mouse into the thing on the keyboard, but that's a lot of unnessecary desk-clutter...

Unless... (Just had a brainwave) I get one of those "mini-dongle" wireless mice, which are barely bigger than the usb connector itself. That could go into the side of the keyboard, remaining invisible, free up a slot on the back of my mac, and all would be right with the world.

Hmm... possibilities...

I chose microsoft 5000 over logitech v470 because I need a back button for browsing. I loved my logitech mx518, but microsoft 5000 is allright for my laptop use. It's small but quite comfortable. W/ logitech mx518, I use my palm to direct the mouse, w/ microsoft 5000 I use my finger.

Ah-ha! The USB dongle for the VX Revolution is about the size of a small USB flash drive. (Can you tell I love this mouse...I have 2 of them!) If you really wanna go tiny, look at the VX Nano. I don't think they get any smaller. That would again be a tiny mouse, however.

Well, they both are miniature mice, and I've never found a miniature mouse that I am even vaguely comfortable with. I have big fat hands. I should have made it clearer that I was rejecting both of those options...

I think I'm going to try and track down and have a play with the sony one, as I like the look of it but am worried about the ergonomics. If not, I'll have to hunt down a usb dongle of epicly tiny proportions. As long as I can shove it into the side of my mac keyboard and it doesn't end up visible, I'll be happy.
