best web-browsing cellphone device on verizon network?

for the first time in my life, instead of getting a regular cellphone, i am planning on getting one of those bigger machines that can perform more jobs, and i am LOST.
ive been looking at LG voyager, blackberries, and other palm devices and smartphones on verizon's website. however, i just dont know what to look for. it looks like most of them can perform pretty much the same jobs.

so i need to hear from you guys who have been using these devices. basically, i need the following on verizon network
1. good reception
2. good/easy web-browing capability (for browing and emails)
3. ability to play mp3s and movies that will be transferred from my computer
4. instant messaging such as aim and msn

please help a newbie out.
