Anyone here playing Japanese PS2 Games in the U.S.?
Are you using a Japanese PS2 or some other method to play these games on an American PS2? There are those swap discs out there, but I've read that some games just won't run when you use them.
If you are running a Japanese PS2, did you require any sort of voltage converter? I know the voltages are close enough that it should probably work, but just curious if anyone was taking that precaution.
Also, any recommendations for import sites other than Play-Asia?
I'm looking to try and pick up a couple of the cool looking top-down and side-scrolling shooters than never made their way over here.

get it chipped, if you're good w/ soldering, you just need to buy the chip and install it yourself, then you won't have any problem playing any ver. of ps2 games, including japanese, pal, or even backup

Since you're planning on buying legit copies, just get a chip. (And if you can't find a specific game, you can still... you know...)

Any particular brand recommendation? I also would prefer not to run into any issues with games that don't get along with chips, as I would imagine some of them would.

Pretty much all them work. I have a matrix infinity + v4 PS2 and I haven't come across a game that didn't play.

I think I have matrix infinity too, it can also play ps1 games, imported, japanese or backup.
