Also, there's no way to "improve" what you have, but if you seek out the best mastered/pressed CD's on eBay, then you'll notice a remarkable difference.
Most good mastered/pressed CD's come from Japan, West Germany, UK, some from Canada, and just a few first-release versions in the America's.

Only one, special edition hybrid SACD from Dark Side Of The Moon. I need to chill with buying of equipment and start buying good quality music only.

If you have good equipment, and average quality music, that good equipment isn't going to help. In fact, it could make it worse, since better quality equipment can bring out additional details, bass, treble, etc.
When topics like this come up, I always end up saying at some point; "garbage in - garbage out." If you put average music in, that's all your going to get out. Put excellent quality music in good equipment.. now we're talking "eargasm's", and multiple ones at that.

I own more than 500 cd's, none of them clip or distorts. My system is not the fault, it is this cd that is worth more as a freesbee than playing music.
I will trawl ebay for a copy of the old version or a better press etc.

Bad music > good source/amp > worse sounding music
Good muic > good source/amp > better sounding music.
OR
Bad gasoline/ethenol > good car > pitiful performance
Good gasoline/ethenol > good car > better performance.
Why do you think they use high performance gasoline/ethenol into race cars? Because its bosts the performance. The same principle applies here.
This isn't rocket science here....

Sure I just don't understand why anyone would make such a poor copy/press of music like Pink Floyd, considering it is "listening music" rather than radio pop. Does what is left of the band endorse it or even have any say in it?

If you want the best quality Floyd pressings you are gonna have to spend some coin. Or find them online somewhere!!
Here is my personal faves/ pressings. I'm sure most will agree? And NO my WYWH 2 track isn't for sale
MEDDLE- MFSL UDCD 518
DARK SIDE OF THE MOON- Japan Toshiba Black Triangle-CP35-3017
Japan Harvest Blackface- CP35-3017 1A1 TO-(There is also a pressing that has the same #s but have no TO in the martix-That one is my choice but either will do)( The one with TO is a little harsh too me)
WISH YOU WERE HERE-Japan 35DP-4 (2 Track) HOLY GRAIL!!!!
Master Sound Long Box- Columbia Records : CK53753 (Japan 1994)
Japan Harvest Blackface-CDP 7 46035 2
Japan 2nd pressing-Japan 28DP-5005
ANIMALS-Japan CBS/SONY 32DP 360
(Animals has bad pressings all around, the one I listed is the 1st Japan pressing which is still the best but the Doug Sax remaster is decent)
THE WALL-Columbia C2K 36183
UK Harvest (CDS 7 46036 8)
(Some will prefer the Harvest, but to me it is too muddy, The Columbia has much more life, the best I've heard including the MSFL
I didn't add earlier cds or later as I'm more a fan of these titles. I say if you do want the other cds find Japan pressings as they tend to be the best of really any group. Those Japanese guys have the ears and really know how to press cds Hell LPs as well

I have a C2K version of the wall, I found on eBay for $7. I've seen them go as high as $50-$60 a piece. Even at that price, this CD is worth it.
This man knows his PF, for sure!
However some of the UK pressings are no slouch either. MFSL is also an excellent source. Most of the earlier Japanese pressings are of extremely high quality.

As a follow up on this thread: I am looking for a nice quality print of Wish You Were Here. Not the fancy Mastersounds gold edition or other expensive collector's editions, just a plain, good sounding cd for listening to.
I have looked a lot on ebay and there are 2 editions that look interesting:
The first one is a plain old used copy of one of the first cd pressings from 1985 or so. It has "compact disc" printed on the front of the cover! Usually on Columbia as far as I can tell.
Example:
Pink Floyd - WISH YOU WERE HERE - CD - eBay (item 300238993024 end time Jul-09-08 00:21:34 PDT)
Another is a Japanese edition, still sealed, in black mini LP edition. I have several other cd's in such mini LP editions (Graceland for instance) and know they are not rare. But how is the sound quality?
example:
PINK FLOYD - Wish You Were Here - Mini LP Japan OBI CD - eBay (item 280242643477 end time Jul-08-08 16:05:48 PDT)
I hope the ebay links are ok to post.
Any comments on SQ of these prints please?

Because I just want the cd to listen to and I already paid for a cd that I find worthy of the garbage bin
But I will probably go for an old 1985-2000 pressing of the cd, they should be ok, not so compressed and clipping.

I don't think you can go wrong with the first one. It will be a lot better than what you already have.
