Default My latest CD purchase:

I've been buying a lot of CDs lately. Must be because of my new iPod This is what came up on the receipt when I decided to order a pair of PX-100s:

Dj Shadow - Private Press
Sennheiser PX100 - Silver
Smiths - Hatful Of Hollow
Krall Diana - Girl In The Other Room
Harvey Pj - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
Morrissey - Your Arsenal
Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
Waits Tom - Blue Valentine

Total cost, 100$!

S'funny,my iPod caused me to STOP buying a lot of CD's Good purchase on the PX100's, I've got a pair myself, and I think theyre the best bang for the buck as far as mini-cans go.

I must not get it. Why did the iPod influence you to stop purchasing a lot of cds?

I will always get cds.. I can't deal with shady dowloads in absurdly low bitrates, and extremely complicated and restricting online music stores that distribute in equally shady formats. Some exceptions for classical as some sell flac, but thats about it. Somethin special about knowing a piece for awhile, only to purchase the cd, spin it up and be amazed.. Cmmon man respect your gear and feed it filet_mignon!

Well, the obvious answer is because file sharing is killing CD sales. If you take a look at your local HMV/Sam Goody/Music World or what have you, you'll notice a considerable drop in the number of customers, compared to say 5 years ago. (The fact that peer-to-peer sharing of copyrighted works has been legal in Canada since December 2004 cant hurt things much either ) It's not hard to find websites that sell high-bitrate downloads of all the music you're looking for as well, and it's way cheaper than buying CD's.. which in my house, sit around collecting dust. I call it the record collection. And as soon as iTunes introduces redbook quality WAV files and lossless formats for purchase at the itunes store, FUGGEDDABOUTIT my friend. If I want to support a band, I'll buy their T-shirts and attend their concerts; they don't care how they get my dollar. They'll see a larger cut from a t-shirt sale than they would from a CD royalty anyways.
