Former FreeBSD user here, until 4 1/2 years ago when I switched to Mac OS X. Loved it!

I use iTunes on my Windows for about 3 years now. It's really good but it isn't that stable and it makes my computer tired
Today I lost faith in it, I upgraded my iTunes version and about 600 songs were erased. About 10 albums that were lossless ripped and about 50 more albums that were downloaded @ mp3 / 128-320.
I think I'll start using Media Monkey, at least until I can afford a Mac.

What do you mean?...my MacBook isn't made of my pixie dust? Erm...what about my iPod Touch? Surely that is...you're scaring me...

Observation #342: Not only are "Macs" neck to neck with "PCs", quite a few "PC" voters have admittedly never used Macs, and some are already or thinking of converting.

Well, afaik the last BeOS version (R5) was released i March 2000. A staggering 8 1/2 years ago, which is a long time in the computer world. Perhaps not a surprise that few people use it, since there are lots more up-to-date OS out there.

Wasn't BeOS Steve Jobs' thing? And if so wouldn't it stand to reason that many of its features made it into OS X?

You probably mean Nextstep. Which Apple bought in 1996, after letting down BeOS... Or their respective companies that is.

I prefer to store my music on NTFS formatted hard disks. Since I dont own a mac, I've no need for HFS+.

1TB fat32 drive on mac here, mainly cause i need it to be fat32 for my cowon q5 to access it also.

but i generally prefer non journalled file systems for music, far less read/write data going on with timestamps and last accessed metadata etc - i just want the file to play and have its access as lean and clean as possible, especially being on an old imac G3

althought i would like the associated competence of NTFS as the library gets bigger!

Some are prepared to buy more expensive quality stuff, while others go for the cheapest option.
