I am using some well burned in Senn HD555's. The sound is really good.
I have some Senn HD600's, but HiFiMAN seems to drive the 555's a bit better. Then again the HD600's don't have a lot of hours on them.

I'm not planning on using the HiFiMan801 with the Sennheiser HD650's but I do expect the ESW9's will shine. Can't wait.
Fang, any idea when batch #2 will ship?
Thank You

Just tried the 801. It sounds really great and better than my IMod 4G from memory -- my IMod 4g went wrong 3 weeks before the arrival of the 801 so I can't A/B compare them.
What a great product!

No shipping notification. 801 arrived on my doorstep Friday afternoon. Sounds phenomenal w/ JH13's and HD800's. Both when used as usb dac and dedicated source.

No offence Fang but I have never received any email notification so far from my paypal account email address. As I stated in one of my previous post that I was guessing if the 801 was coming. There could be communication break downs for unknown reasons.
However, I does have received the 801(this is much more important than the email notifications, right ) and have stated that it's a great product from my personal feeling. So for the other batch1 buyers, may be it's worthwhile to wait for few more days.
Finally, I did have a chance to hear the Amp3 Pro V2 and felt that 801 is lightyears better. This Chinese-made audio product is worth waiting.
Good luck to everybody and wish that all can get the product soon and have an appreciation thread for the 801 soon.

Hi Zanth,
Have you solved the problem yet? I encountered exactly the same problem after re-insert my SD card into the 801. I stopped the play, switched the 801 from player mode to DAC mode, played it and then stopped again and back to the player mode again. The play is normal. Basically I was trying to reset the machine and luckily it worked.
you may have a try. Good luck.

Thanks for this brief comparison. I have been reading about both products, but decided a while back to go for the 801.
And Fang, can we have another update on shipping? When will batch 2 folks receive theirs?
Also did you ever get a chance to see if the 801 works with WMA lossless files? It was mentioned in some early press releases that it would play WMA lossless, but then later specs do not mention the lossless type of WMA format specifically.

To all of you that are waiting, I hope that you get what you have been waiting for, and that it was worth every second of your wait (I k now mine was).
Let us not forget, as with other manufacturers here on Head-Fi, that due to complications beyond their control, their parts come on late or when they do come in, they are defective, or are the wrong parts, and then when everything finally comes in directly, it creates frantic times to get everyone's products out in a timely manner and notifications fall by the wayside during an 18 hour day.
I'm not saying that this is the particular case here but I have found that Fang is tried and true, and as honest as they get, and everyone will get what they ordered. If, for some reason, you get one that has problems, Fang will right the wrong as fast as possible.
You will get what you deserve in a timely manner.
I've seen the same thing with Ray Samuels. Many sleepless nights were spent trying to get out orders on time because the manufacturer send the wrong knobs, or wrong color chassis.
It's a rewarding business when you are good at what you do, but when you're hands are tied by other's who control the total build of your product, all of the Prevacid in the world, won't help.
Everyone will get what they ordered, even if i takes a little more time.

@GreenLeo, how did you get the music to stop from starting up when first turning on the unit?
TIA.

Thanks for the reminder to be patient. It is exciting to hear that others ahead of me are starting to receive their units, as that means I am moving up the list!
