Yup, ASIO4All works perfectly with USB DAC's like the HM-801. In fact that's what I used at CanJam with it. (Windows XP system with Foobar2000).

Yes, indeed. What I'm curious about is reports on just how strong the DAC stands as desktop replacement after cables have been MOT-DIY'd and the dust is settled around the early adopters. I'll have to sit out the pre-order anyway, having already dug into my wallet for the HF-2.

Yes, I have nothing but <3 for foobar/asio4all; it's feeding a V-DAC and I've been curious to try a NOS as well. But it's not unlikely that my next gadget will be a Hifiman.
P.s.
Regarding form factor, what I'm typically looking for are solutions for transportable and ultra-portable respectively, but I can get used to having the transportable kit turned into portable without hurting the budget or sound quality. If in 3 or 6 years from now, my 2TB external HD brick turns into a 2TB SDXC, what's not to get used to with that...

"More than 10 available"
That sounds fishy to me. Or someone preordered a lot of HM-801's with the intention of flipping them for a profit.
Hey, Fang, did you have someone preorder a lot of HM-801's?

Done.
Everyone else report the listing to eBay as well.
I filed a complaint under "listing violation" and copyright violation. eBay certainly doesn't make it easy to report listings. Which seems to tell me that they don't care all that much. If anything, they will take down the listing due to copyright violation in that they used the images from the Head-Direct website without persmission.

Yup, preorder price is still up on the site. Nankai said that it would be good until they were ready to ship. Better hurry!

Update July 17/09:
We are very close to finish. Hifiman HM-801 has been able to play 24bit (both 88.2khz and 96khz) FLAC format earlier this week. Our engineer made the following photo by an inexpensive camera. We have contacted a professional photographer today. We will provide more beautiful photographs in the next one or two days hopefully.

Tres cool. Do you have one amp module ready, and other amps in development? Any interest shown yet by other manufacturers regarding module production?
