If you buy electronic / computer ... they loose 20% of their value per years ...
After 5 years, your stuff worth almost nothing.
Heaphones it's not same thing. Speakers don't loose value much with time.
HD800 are not build to be a mass production. They expect probably to sell 600-1000 unit total.
Mass market is somewhere in 150-250$.
After 250$ ... peaple considering that as very expansive.
At 400-450$ ... most not even dream to have it...
imagine at 1000 or 1400$ ...

Isn't it clear that Sennheiser misjudged the market if they already now, before shipping out a single 'phone, have orders on par with what they expected in the entire first year?
If the statement is true though, and not just a false scarcity...

Actually the mass market is anywhere under $100. Go now and tell ur friends that you just spend $200 on a pair of headphones and see how they will respond.

Man, I hope so. If Sennheiser says HD800 is limited edition such as 200 pieces maximum, the price might rocket up high later
I just feel Sennheiser might push price jump from HD650($599.95 list price,~$350 street price?) to HD800($1399.99 list price) at bad timing as the economy is so bad and it will last for months or years.
I will buy HD800 when its price drops down a little bit....
