Does Sennheiser have something against Headroom? Seems strange to me that they are getting a very sought after item a week after some smaller orders are getting their boxes? Inverse correlation with size of order (risk) with shipping method/timing?

Headroom got screwed by Sennheiser this time around. They even shipped it via a slower shipping method than the other companies.

HR's order was much larger than other vendors, which probably has something to do with it.
Plus, you don't know that HR didn't select a slower shipping method when they placed the order.

Hi All-
Travis, Jorge, and Mario just ran out of here trying to catch their plane for CanJam!! Travis has an update on our 800 status but he did not have a chance to post before he had to leave, so I am doing so on his behalf:
____
Hi All,
Just wanted to send a quick note from HeadRoom. We sincerely apologize for the delays with getting the 800s out--we've all been waiting for so long that the way this all unfolded in the last couple of days has been extremely frustrating. Sennheiser fully intended to get the order to us faster but there was a breakdown in logistics. However, we will get our shipment from Sennheiser next week and our customers will get their new set of cans. At this point, they are in transit (we have tracking) and it looks like we'll have them mid-week. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
Best regards,
Travis Waller, CEO

It seems that Sennheiser would know who had the largest order and would have planned accordingly but apparently not,
Well considering they said it to other people and me personally that they were getting it today, I would say that part lies on Sennheiser too.
Do we now know the size of the order?

I was just on the phone with HeadRoom to give them a different shipping address for me and arrange a speedier method of shipment. They are now thinking they will receive the order next Wednesday or Thursday, and the size of the shipment is supposed to be large enough to cover all pre-orders.

Bad thing is that I have to leave USA this weekend.... So no HD800 for me, for a while.

Ben told me on the phone Wednesday that Senn usually ships to them ground, and would ship to HR Thursday or Friday to arrive next week, and then ship to customers after that.

I have been listening to my new HD800 cans, courtesy of TTVJ, for about an hour now, and I must say, they are a delight. At the moment, I am enjoying the Telarc Robert Shaw performance of Verdi's Requiem. Sublime.

One of the main purchasing points for using Headroom was that they were getting the first batch from Sennheiser due to their large initial purchase.
My concern isn't that I had to wait... everyone has been waiting just as long, but I was under the assumption that since I was one of the first 10 purchasers in American, that I would receive a Headphone with a serial number that reflected my love for Sennheiser - that I would blindly purchase a product from them at "extreme" costs.
I'm not sure who else is with me on this issue, but it sort of hurts. I defiantly can get over it - I'm pretty sure of it. I didn't cancel my order with headroom, because they are indeed a very good vendor and this situation is unfortunately out of their hands.
Hopefully in the end it all works out and all the first 50 are to be known in the future as the "bass-light/bass-wrong" while the later headroom model gets the bass-right HA HA HA HA!
I'll get mine in due time.. hopefully it is a cool number to make up for it

Exactly. Used the same thinking as well and passed up other Headfi vendors because of that. It is disappointing since it was mentioned as such.
Well the good thing I guess is that I can listen to them at Canjam, and make a final decision if I want them or not.

The numbering of the units shouldn't have to do with what vendor got them first. They were shipped across a large pond and unfortunately, Sennheiser used different shipping methods from Chicago to the 2 Montana locations.
