Nice ad about vaporware - again.
The nearfield setup was shown at the 2007 Head-Fi International meet six months ago, and the ad says those components are still six months out. A year, Tyll? C'mon.
Can't you guys come up with interesting adverts about stuff you are actually shipping?

Geez Jimmy, this is the second time that you're railing on Tyll about his product development cycle. What the hell did he do to you, man? Here's a hint, if you don't have something nice to say why not just remain silent?

Geez Nate, I didn't realize this sub-forum was for Headroom fanboyism only. And here I thought we were here to have discussions.
This is at least the second (actually third) time in recent history that HR has chosen to market in this fashion. Forgive me if, as a serious potential customer for HR's new products, I offer an opinion about their advertising-to-product availability ratios. Personally, I'd prefer to talk about products that are actually shipping in less than a year's time. I'd think Tyll would want to know that about his customer base.
Tyll is free to delete my posts, if he wishes - again.

Thank you for posting your opinion. Just as valid as mine.

If the scheduled release date (which is usually optimistic) is a year away, it's vaporware, imo. That's my basic point.
Nice to see at Headfest as a "proof of concept" or "here's where we're going" sort of thing. But placing Stereophile ads now seems a bit (as in "way too") soon.

I don't know it allows people the opportunity to begin thinking about the concept and getting the needed cash together.
As to the vaporware idea, the two items in question are the D-class amp and speaker stands. I fail to understand why someone would take out a full page as in stereophile to begin storyline about a desktop mini monitor rig without being fully confident they could deliver.
Just for a second consider that short term Tyl would have gotten more bang for his buck with an ad for the micro and desktop line but instead decided to go leading edge and seek to bridge the gap between speakers and headphone with the desktop mini monitor rig. It is not about being a fanboy, as I own not a lick of Headroom gear at the moment and only ever owned a airhead briefly.
I posted this to highlight the fact that once again Headroom is taking the hobby in an interesting direction. Some marketers are interested in todays sales only and some build new markets where none exist. I'll put my money on the guy looking ahead rather than the status quo.
Tyl congrats and now that I have an office I may build a rig similar to this.

Well then start a discussion or quit your whining. Your previous post was worthless and certainly doesn't invite anything other than a negative response, I know you're smart enough to realize that. Or at least be equitable with your bitching, Headroom is hardly the only company around here to try and build some buzz with pre-release adds/posts/whatever. One can hardly blame Headroom for using their advertising dollars however they want to especially when it's in a publication that very few of us read.
I'm with you though, I'd like to see some print on the new micro line. The information in that sponsored thread is pretty thin for a product that's now shipping.
