All in good time, my pretty.
this did not hit me right off the bat but to use a couple of monoblock amps all you need is left and right line ouputs from your preamp, correct?

also what does it take to design a stereo amp to also be used as a monoblock amp? I know you have to use a jumper and connect the speaker wires up differently but that's about it.

Yup. Left out to one, right out to the other. A mono-block amp is just one, presumably bigger, amp in a box. One input; one amp; one output.

A stereo amp can often be put into "bridging" mode, which is what I think you're talking about. I'm not fluent in this, but I just looked it up in the audio engineers handbook, and bridging mode is not a balanced differential drive scheme---on terminal remains at ground potential. SOmeone here may be able to give you a simplified, clear answer, but I'd bet if you google "bridging power amplifier topology" you'll find some explainations.

What I can tell you is that the B&O class-D power amp module is capable of balanced differential inputs and outputs with proper strapping configureation, and that will use it someday.

Ohhhhohoho, sweet! I recently started researching those B&O modules and they look really cool (no pun intended).

Hey, Nate! We're using the 50ASX2 modules, latest generation. I think Joe has the pdf of the manual. Shoot me an email to remind me and I'll send it off to you. And if you want some ... and can wait a few months ... I'll let you (just him you vultures) buy one of ours when they come in. I know they can be hard to come by.

(Probably should have PM'd that, but I love to watch DIYers drool.)

Conversation taken to PM to avoid further beatings that I'm already in line for.
