After I have the dac and the amp hooked up (line out to line in) and hook up a optical cable from the sacd players digital out to the dac's optical line in, there are still two unused line in plugs on the micro amp's backside. Ok, if I hook up the sacd player L and R outputs to the micro amps line in #one, how do I listen to the digital signal. There doesn't seem anyway to select a digital sourse on the amps front panel. Sorry to be such a twit

I answered from the POV of your connecting the analog output of your SACD player to the analog input on your Micro Amp.
If you're using the digital output for the SACD player, then you'll need a DAC (digital analog convertor) to process the signal before sending to the Micro Amp. The Micro DAC should do that well for you.

Has anyone compared today's Micro Amp to past versions? Just wondering what changes have been made because most opinions I'm finding of the amp are from years past.

On the packing slip it said "final build" and there was a "09" sticker on the bottom of the amp. Guess what they are selling now is the most current build.

I have a Micro Amp. I'm just wondering how to select the digital feed on the Micro Amp when I get my Micro Dac! Think I better call somebody at Headroom before I buy.

There's no digital selector feed switch on the Micro Amp. There are just 2 line ins for analog inputs. The Micro Amp will not take a digital signal. The amp depends on a separate DAC for processing digital signals. This is why the Micro DAC is sold as well.
Only the Portable Micro Amp with DAC, the Desktop amp with DAC, and the Ultra Desktop Amps have DACs built in. They will have selector switches for which input you wish to use.

Read my post. It states that I'm going to buy a Mirco Dac to ADD to my Micro Amp. Are you saying that they are not compatible?

The DAC has a selector to choose your digital input.
Between that and the input selector on the Micro Amp, you'll be able to control your digital sources. For example: If you're using digital input, select digital on the DAC and then on the MicroAmp choose the input that the DAC is connected to.
If you take a look at the photos of the DAC, you'll see the digital selector switch on the front. Is that what you're querying?

I see said the blind man Thank you so much for being so patient with me. The Dac's Line Output goes to the Amp's (one of them) Line Level Input. So I still have one input left for my sacd's analog signals. Cool

Phew! That was a circuitous route. Got there in the end though.

Why do I feel like I greatly contributed to it??
Anyway, I like the pun ... 'circuituous route'. Seems like an old one for you.

What confused me was that "volume controlled line output" jack on the back of the AMP. Poor Aimlink, what patience.

Just ordered it with the fastest 'circuituous route' possible.

And the Saga continues!!!
Ordered Micro Dac yesterday and received it today. Paid for overnight. What the hell. I have been listening for only an hour or so but noticed so many improvements. Some subtle, some not so subtle. The few disc's I've played sound more spacious with a pronounced space between instruments that the micro amp and cd player alone didn't have. I thought it couldn't get any better but it did. I have to go now and listen to some tunes and some Tchaikovsky and Mahler. Oh, the list is endless
