Thanks Tyll! But don't sweat my wallet - if my Balanced Max didn't sound so beautiful, I wouldn't've had to buy GS1k, K701, beyer880, AND Senn 650 cans to go with it! Frankly, now that I've memorized them, I actually prefer those switches being on the back. Hell, ANYONE can throw a toggle when it's on the front. This amp is truly a masterpiece. After burn-in, I think I'll send it in to install the ALPS RK50. It just deserves the quad-pot regardless of price, and will live next to the Zana Deux. One thing I do sometimes wish for is a remote. (No doubt that wish will vanish when we put in the RK50!) Thanks, -Tim
Watch out Tyll, this guy is potentially even more of a HeadRoom nut than I am...

The DPS, with all those din power jacks, is great marketting. Each of those empty, lonely, rejected and dejected power jacks on the DPS calls to you every day for another HR device to supply with its excellent power.
I'm in a similar situation, with only a 2007 Ultra Micro DAC and "The Hefe" DPS 3 lb "Juice Box" to give it the best quality and most abundant power possible. Man it sounds amazing!!! I'm not sure, though, if the big components in the DPS which provide LOTSA (6 jacks worth) of clean, abundant power scale down in a cost-effective way to ones which would provide the same abundance and cleanness of power to, say, 1 or 2 jacks. (Custom sigma-22 anyone?) Myself, I'm a little light in the soldering iron, so I went with "The Hefe" DPS.

I was thinking of the same DPS build, similar parts, smaller foot print and 1 maybe 2 jacks, that would still mean you would need the DPS now for bigger projects. They need something to fill the gap between $99 and 399$

this is what I want also. a DPS specific for the Micro Line. it's deserves it's on DPS in the same size case. something that would clean the desktop up with added benefits of the Desktop DPS.
Mike said at one time he was working on one for the original Micro Amp but the problem was that the Micro case is just too small. Tyll mentioned once that a switching supply might be able to fit in the Micro case.
if ya look at the two wall supplies they are as big as the Micro's themselves. the original wall supply is actually taller. I'm not sure about the Astrodyene.
as far as the Desktop DPS, if I remember correctly what The Sloth told me, having the 6 outputs is just an added bonus that it is able to handle.
Tyll has told me once that anything other than the Micro or Desktop case means another size case to have made and added cost.

If this had existed when I bought the Ultra Micro DAC, I'd have bought it instead of the six outlet DSP, most of which I'll not likely ever need. It's a good idea, HighLife. Now, can Joe do it commercially at a "fill-the-gap" price point? And, is demand for it likely to make it worth HeadRoom's while to have Joe work on it, instead of delivering another commercial product project? I'm guessing that offering the Astrodyne PSU is already HeadRoom's answer to these questions. I'm glad, just the same, that we're asking explicitly.

you can search through these forums and see where I and others have asked and begged before.
I think it was Mike I talked to before, maybe Joe but what I got out of him was I'm glad you brought it to my attention again so I can start back thinking about it. this was at or over a year ago when talk of the new Micro's were to be released.
the most I ever heard Tyll speak of doing one was that maybe a switching supply could fit into a Micro enclosure.
I'm always glad to see this topic come back up in hopes of one possibly being made but I would want it to have the benefits of the Desktop DPS. still no word..
