I hope that HeadRoom will not be as sensitive about pirate6955's comments. It's about the lack of availability of the specs for their US$499 DPS. Not about HeadRoom, the company, in general. I'm a serious HeadRoom fan and I've certainly put my money where my mouth is in that regard. At the same time, they aren't above reproach and if there's a glaring issue, it needs to be tabled as such.

Glaring issue?

A few specification disclosures from other manufacturers in similar markets:

"SPECIFICATIONS:
AC Input Voltage: 120/240VAC
Output Voltage: 9V DC @ 2.5 Amps
Accessories: IEC Type AC Cable, DC output Cable
Dimensions: 4.40"w x 2.65"h x 4.40"d
Warranty: 1 Year Parts & Labor"

"Technical specifications PSU
Transformer : 48VA toroidal type
Voltage regulatory circuit : 5 x 2,200 uF at AC input stage and 3 x 4,700 uF at DC output stage
Input rating: Factory set to 100~120V AC 50/60Hz or 200~240V AC 50/60Hz
(selectable through wire connection)
Output rating ; 13V 3.0A
Measurement : 180 x 138 x 45 mm
Gross Weight: 2.5kgs"

"Connections:
Power outputs
4 off 3 way DIN socket

Power requirement
100W maximum

Weight:

Unit only, unboxed 3.0kg, 6 3/4 lbs
In shipping carton
4.3kg, 11.2lbs

Dimensions:

180mm, 7.1 inches wide
88mm, 3.5 inches high including feet
235mm, 9.3 inches deep including terminal (total 320mm, 12.6 inches with plugs in)

Standard accessories:
10A IEC Mains lead"

So I'm not really sure why it seems to anyone that not declaring ripple specs. for example is a glaring omission?

I do not see anything in the disclosures of the above products that would help you to determine their potential performance.

What can I plug it in, i.e., required UPS rating when it's plugged in with other units on the same UPS? Where will it fit (size helps)?

IOW's, the specs aren't always only about performance issues.

I'm at a loss to understand why any customer wouldn't want to see the specs on any piece of gear he or she is contemplating.

As mentioned in an earlier post, this is from another manufacturer and is an example of what I consider a useful power supply spec:

"-- over 110,000uF capacitance filtering ... brown out proof."

Be objective: Why would anyone spending $499 NOT want to know that?

If you are such a consumer, please contact me -- I have a nice bridge in Brooklyn that might interest you.
