Theres some serious wallet damage there when you include the cables

I knew it over $100. Well I guess I'm out for the time being.

Oh, Christ. At first I thought the full package price was for the cable and I felt my heart kind of stop, literally.

Well, dang, that IS expensive, but I guess I can pull all my funds together.

Much thanks for the link!

The iMod sounds good, but ouch! For those buying the complete package (5/5.5G) you can get a H120/40 + Micro DAC combo for much cheaper. It's not as portable, but it at least it'll sound better. And it seems those investing in the iMod are in it for the sound.

Not until it can be 120GB and rockboxed for me I'm afraid.

that doesn't seem that unreasonable (at least compared to what it was in the past)

$350 for the ipod
$200 for the modding

then the cables aren't too much more than the non-imod models

Well, i have caved in and pre-ordered one. Ken tells me i'm in the first batch currently being modded.

My only DAP till now has been a 1st gen Ipod Nano which has slowly died after almost 2 years of use.

I've been fence sitting on getting a hard drive Ipod for a while now for my lossless collection, this threw me over the edge!

My equipment consolidation begins to fund this purchase!

Well, if you already have your own iPod 5G (like me) you'll be out ~370-400 for the cable and mod, and shipping.

Not too too bad, I think.

True, and an extra bonus if you got your iPod as a gift!
