Introducing the ALO Rx AMP
We have been working hard for many months now to bring to our customers the ALO Prescription (Rx) Headphone amplifier.
Designed from scratch, the ALO Rx is utilizing dual power sources: two 3,7 volt rechargeable Li-On batteries which should supply tons of power for headphones of all flavors, from the ultra-sensitive IEM more power-hungry circum-aural headphones.
The amp’s dimensions will be a super small 2.5 * 0.5 * 4.2 inches of extruded aluminium in a choice of red, black, or silver.
Further Details
* High output power - a minimum of 5.25V peak to peak and over 100mA of output current, so can easily drive any headphones.
* The ALO Audio Rx has a real bi-polar power supply not a rail splitter…
* Long-lasting, rechargeable battery - The ALO Rx contains dual lithium-ion battery which will power the amp for more than 15 hours at typical listening levels. It recharges in about 2 hours from an external wall-wart charger. You can also operate it while plugged in to keep the battery topped off. Uses a proprietary DEDICATED battery supervising / charging IC.
Specifications:
* Frequency response: ±1dB; 10Hz - 20kHz ±0.1dB @ 1V out
* Maximum output: 7.45V Peak to Peak
* Output source impedance: Less than 1Ω
* THD+N: 0.004% @ 1V RMS out into 24Ω
* Broadband noise: <10μV RMS, unweighted, integrated over 20Hz - 20kHz
* Output DC offset: <3mV
* Input impedance: 40kΩ
* Maximum input level: 5V RMS
* Channel tracking (gain difference between channels, all volume steps): <±0.2dB
* Gain: 1.5X /6X ---5V (switch-selectable), ±<0.5dB
* Dimensions: 4.2″ long x 2.5″ thick x 5″ wide
I have a initial run of these being made right now and are due to be ready for sale some time in early October. These will come with a wall wart charger good for use in any country. The working prototype went through several tweaks and the final product has proven to be truely a world class portable headphone amp, we are more than thrilled.
More info soon.
Thank you
Ken

Just a clarification of the specs:
Looks cool. Do you know what the price will be yet, and can you talk some more about the internals?

Alone in my room, lights off, tubes aglow and music flowing, I discovered something. No matter how much hi-end gear I put between the recording and my ears, its the music that moved me to tears. Less is always more.

The input and output jacks look a little close, would your larger connectors still fit?

Kobe,
The distance is a standard. One Canare F12's should be fine with another Neutrik, not not 2 F12's.
Thanks

I had the opportunity to listen to a prototype version of the ALO Rx amp - and it sounded VERY good, indeed!
Ken - you are going to sell a boat-load of these, so better order a lot of parts for the first production run.
Congratulations!

We just got the Rx enclosures in this week and are building. I am going to RMAF and will have them to listen to. When I return from the show I can get some glamor shots up, for now iPhone pics will have to do. We are thrilled with the Rx performance, an easy contender for top portable.
