Cyrilix, you're on Mac right?
Ok, noob questions here:
1. What exactly is resampling and what effect does it have on the sound?
2. How do I resample to 48 KHz if I'm on Mac and I'm using an M-AUDIO Transit?

Over the past few days the details of my rig have been getting some attention. Overall, i can't say that there was any particular improvement due to any one change.. However, the sum of all these changes has been quite good for my system.
1. I increased the latency on M-Audio's software to the highest it would go.
2. I increased the system catch, and optized my ram for this purpose
3. I optimized my outboard drive for performance instead of convenience.
4. I removed 5 items from my power strip
5. Volex power cord for the dac
6. Unpiled the components and put them in a line
7. i got rid of competing media players, so that i have only one playback interface.
The zhaolu still has a shallow-ish soundstage (compared to it's width), yet it's very detailed and big enough for every band/orchestra i've thrown at it.

And that is exactly the description I've been searching for!
In a nutshell, that's my impressions of the ZL; superbly detailed, fast, shallow-ish but extremely wide soundstage and a little on the fatiguing side (3xOPA2107 with RS-1s).

I've stopped upsampling on the dac through my M-Audio software, the results are as follows:
The soundstage has gotten less precise, isn't as upfront and maybe a bit slower. The big benefit it he depth of the soundstage, which has greatly increased...and so has the 3D feel of the music.
basically this is the consensus about the differenes between upsampling and nos confirmed.

Does the bass get less "muddy" after burn-in? It is vibrating and I like that but it is muddy and not detailed.
Also what is Ori mod? Is it for Zhaolu "D2C"? How much does it cost and where can I get it? Thank you.

The ori mod is from oritek audio, costs 225, look his website up
What ori does: discrete output stage for the analogue, adds a transformer for the digital, and some gold plated RCA cables. he might include some of the bellow measures if you havn't done so already.
what can be done for cheap with great results
1. disable the XLR outputs
2. disable the headamp
3. make Coaxial the default input
4. disable the LCD lights
5. remove the DC blocking caps or short them buy sodering a wire accross the bottom. (if you have it from eddie wu then this mod is already done)
The results of this whole package is amazing, the dac sounds far better than it did in the beginning... and yes, the bass is very clean.

Hmmm...sorry for going off-topic (from the Zhaolu,) but is this new DAC Eddie's been talking about the Lite DAC-AM? If he really thinks it's that great, perhaps I should pick one up from diyclub.biz for $240. No impressions around here though, so I'm a little wary.

Hmm. I wonder if DAC-AM is the one he's been talking about; we need technical info (which spdif receiver, DAC chip, analogue stage, etc).
BTW, what is in Zhaolu 2.0 digital input stage? I assume it's one of the CS84xx series spdif receiver, but is there a reclocker chip and/or PLL?

Well guys, I have on my zhalou about 50 hours, it changed dramatically, right now it has much better bass, amazing dynamic and soundstage, some instruments sound amazing especialy contrabass and cymbals.

Do 1-4 make big difference? I like having the lights and my cd player doesnt have coaxial. I am uncomfortable disabling XLR outputs (Looks cool!) and headamp. Next to ori mod, how big are these? I heard alot about "removing the caps" and something about "DY2000," is this in Ori mod (Can Ori do it? I am afraid to ruin my new DAC)? Thank you.

If you only have optical then you obviously won't make the coaxial a default...  It's just my experience that coax seems to perofrm better, in general.
As for LEDs, there are 11 of them inside, which you really can't see...  The front panel lights may remain active, if you really like them.

I got an idea...anyway to disable the lights inside the dac? (they are taking up my power for non music reasons).

No, what makes you think I'm on a Mac? PC ftw.
1 - Dunno, poor resampling can alter the sound in a bad way. That's all I can tell you. You'll find more opinions from others.
2 - Does foobar2000 or any media player that can resample exist on the Mac? I'm not familiar with Macs.
