Soo I just went to the distributor www.ifiaudio.com and saw the "Great March High DIYEDEN" DAC. Any of you very informed guys have info on that one as well? It's a bit more expensive then the Zhaolu and no headphone amp (which I don't need anyway) so did any of you ever compare it to the Zhaolu either 2 or 1.3? Many thanks.
the only impressions i've heard on the great-march is "dissapointing", "warm", "ok", and maybe "acceptable". i've yet to hear a rave review. of course i don't expect this to help you much perhaps someone is floored on thiers, but i have yet to hear it.

my advice ( ) is always to buy it for yourself and then tell us about it!!!

I don't have a zhalou, but with my HR Desktop, and MacBook Pro, 24/96k upsampling does unquestionably improve the sound. I have done pretty extensive listening and it seems that either the DAC is a better performer at that rate, the jitter is significantly reduced at this rate, a combination of both, or something completely different!

My advice to you:

- Use your own ears as everybody's hearing and preferences are different.
- Try to audition as much equipment as possible to find your sound.
- Buy used to save money.

And it works just fine too.

He has. He said that the headphone amp for the 1.3 provided good results with low impedance cans, but weren't exactly the best for high impedance cans.
With D2 it might be a different story as well:

From iFi Audio's website: The headphone amplifier has been greatly improved from the headphone amplifier in the D1.x series offering the ability to drive even the toughest loads presented by headphones. The stock amplifier can be upgraded to an all discrete/fet based headphone amplifier module for the ultimate in performance.

I just hope this no to be any marketing bs.

So i'm bored today and just sent Eddie the payment for my CS4398 DAC Board Cant wait to get it.

My Zhalou came with a optical and coax cable, dunno if eddie added them or they were stock from zhalou.

hyamaiata: Yes i'll get it but i wont have anything good to compare it until i get the headfive. Im curious how discrete vs OPAmp design will turn out for me
BTW ill be using the Zhalou for my A900LTD as a PC based setup. Im planning a 2nd setup for my bedroom (baby do2 -> headfive -> k701) But first i gotta see how the headfive turns out.

I wonder if it's worth getting Eddie's blackgate upgrade?
