I have kaushama's Modded MD-10 with SA5000s and LM4562. It is rarely harsh and bright at all. For me being a senn guy, it's bright. but if you like sa5000s I don't think it's a problem.

still, for DACs if you have the cash, DA100, lavry DA10, benchmark DAC1 are all going to be better than the musiland or great march probably. Or BelCanto3. Not sure if cash is a problem though. The Ori Zhalou is apparently amazing - I would've got it if it had USB on board and a headphone amp.

Very impressive.
Can you be a little more specific, what exactly did you like in it ?
What is your system built from ,etc...

Congrats !

Furthermore,
did anyone here made a comparison of SB->DA100 Vs. USB->DA100 ?
If I will be getting the DA100 I wonder if it's worth keeping the SB3...

for those who use it via the USB, are you using ASIO4ALL ?

I came from work today , and this is what waited for me there :

So i started to open it :

What a nice baby looking on me

So what can I say about how this sounds ? Definitely more refined ,detailed and wider than Squeezbox's DAC . Each note received some own weight ,and it's easy noticed . However there is no WOW factor once you connected it . You just realize that this is much better then before , during listening sessions !

So this baby not going anywhere !! I really enjoy how it's sounds !!!

Congratulations.

Wow effect is very hard to achieve if you already have good equipment. Differences are easy to notice though. Happy listening.

After extensive listening I would say, DA100 is the one of the best buys I had recently. I may buy another one later for another setup I am building.
I have listed my AUDIGY2 ZS for sale with an MD10.

Has anybody here compared the DA100 to the Bel Canto DAC2? I'm still having a hard time finding a second-hand DA100 (I just can't afford $780 shipped plus possible import duties for a DA100), but the Bel Canto DAC2 seems to always be in abundant supply on Audiogon.
