Very quiet here for last month............who else has purchased Saturn and how does it compare to previous/current CDP?
This is my take on both the Apollo and the Saturn.I had the Apollo for 3 weeks and thought it was superb. It emerges from a silent backround with intruments clear and focused. An instant WOW was my immediate reaction.Having been listening to the CA Azur 640c v1 previously you can imagine my surprise.I would have been content with the Apollo until I had the opportunity to listen to the Saturn. The Saturn further improves on the sound with more bass clarity without sacrificing the treble and a very easy flowing of the music that sustains you for hours, certainly ahead of it's time. After about 50 hours on it now it's quite apparent that the Saturn surpasses the Apollo and to me that's shocking. Is the Saturn $1400 better than the Apollo that one could be debated but having the Saturn with me now it's a no brainer and a keeper.
The Saturn can be had for under $2000 and the sub $1600 range, but that isn't as easy. One of the reasons I upgraded to the Saturn was because the price was way too good to resist.

Interesting,I paid full price for mine because my dealer is 20 minutes away and has got my back in case anything happens to it.Not long ago someone from this web site offered the Saturn to me for $1500.It was a scam in the making and I caught it in time.If the deal sounds to good to be true it usually is.Absoulte true story.

you should always do your due dilligence but audio dealers should work with their customers especially repeat customers. I have stopped buying big ticket items from my local guy because I can routinely get them for much less. I like him and his service is good but not at MSRP though.
The saturn at MSRP runs into some other great players that make it a tough call but at $1600 its a no brainer.

I just purchased a pristine Planet 2000 on Audiogon for $440.00 shipped. It would be hard to tell this from new. Is the Apollo worth an additional $500.00 for the differences?
I hate thinking I have an inferior player but to me it's the best source I ever owned just curious more comparisons with the Planet 2000 and Apollo.
I actually have read several sites that say they like the analog sound of the Planet 2000 better could this be?

A used Apollo is between $700 and $800. I haven't heard the Planet in a while. It's a nice cdp, but the Apollo is the better player, imo.
My local audio dealer, who's sold Rega for a good long while, said the Apollo was actually "clearly better" in his esteem than the Jupiter 2000, despite them being sold at the same time for awhile and the Jupiter's higher price.

OK say lets say it is $350.00 better? I would love to do a blind sound test!
