I have the cheaper modded PV Dac-Ah and it has the resister mods already done so if you're note DIY inclined I recommend that one over the bone stock version. I haven't been able to compare directly against each other, but i converted my DAC-AH to Battery power and did a Passive out with Jupiter caps and really like the sound. Next step will be to change the output resistors to Caddock's.
I believe I have the middle version. I am very satisfied with it. I read somewhere (was it here?) someone who suggested that other mods were more controversial. At any rate, I use this DAC for my main headphone rig and I think you'll enjoy it. Very dynamic and involving.
i had the unmodded lite dac-ah and the scratching was unbearable. it wasn't even at high volumes. so unless you can mod it or planning on having someone do it for you, i'd get something else...

I bought a PV modded one that needed repair. I thought I would repair it but life has a funny way of saying NOPE.
Anyway, I will have mine back in a week or two when PV sends her back.
It had BETTER be good Miguel!!
lol cheers Miami.
It is good, I bought my second one used for $125 w/ S&H. Then I spent about $100 modding it most ($40) to drill holes on the side panels to help vent it. In addition I:
1. Did the passive mods.
2. Added heat sinks to the 8 dac chips.
3. Replaced the cheap feet w/ better ones to absorb vibrations.

yeah I have some vibropods and those racquetball-looking dampeners. Otherwise, it is the PV modded. I will probable remove the lid to vent. It is on top anyway.
