Good points! The unit should arrive on the 10th

What DAC does the Zapfilter use, and how much of an improvement is it to the one provided in the E5?

The ZapFilter is a discrete analog output stage, you'd connect it at the output of the E5's dac.

Thanks, I went back and re-read the info, it was that second sentence that was throwing me off.

Question still begs asking: Anyone (other than the for profits) modded an E5 for redbook, and if so, how, and with what results?

Art: According to Snowy Law, Eastsound has had two E5s on continuously, now for over a year, and have had absolutely no problems with either.

It is more important, to leave equipment on, to conserve tube life, than with SS.

I only turn my equipment off (tube or SS) when I know I will not use it for another 10 hours or more.

Your system is only as good as its weakest link. When you replace one part, and very obvious improvement is noted, that was your weakest link. FEEDBACK

drarthurwells, thanks for the information from Snowy. This is good to know. Your management of the E5 is a good compromise and makes sense.
