Sorry... I should have posted it with my prior post...

It looks like its sold already.

FS: Monarchy Audio M24 tube DAC/linestage

But... you can watch www.audiogon.com/monarchy,

Or... you can just go to Monarchy Audio... and... email them to see if they've got any demos available at reduced prices.

By the way... those that have heard both the M24, and the newer NM24, suggest the M24 sounds better. So you may want to focus on the older M24, which has the silver face plate, and does not have the SS DAC in it.

Good luck...

Which are the best tubes for New M24?
Is the front panel always black in this new version? Is it possible to change it, if I get other front panel?

rajani, hi,

Look out for Bound For Sound issue #180, where the reviewer Martin DeWulf, who has spent a lot of time with the M24, samples many, many tubes. For the DAC section, he likes the JJ E88CC and regular Ei 6DJ8, among the cheaper tubes. I can personally vouch that the Ei 6DJ8 tubes are amazing. The JJ's are even better according to DeWulf, and are going to be easier to find now.

I am actually looking for some recommendations for tubes for the Pre-Out section. Last night, I just received the adapter from Monarchy so I can hook up my Senn 580s directly to the Pre-Out. Sounds great with my Sovtek 6922s, but I'd like to hear if anyone has any definite preferences in the pre-section.

Default I Like The JAN Philips...

I really like the JAN Philips 6922s that come in it with my Senns - they brighten up the Senns.

Thanks Gradofan. The Bound for Sound audio reports reviewer liked the JAN Philips in the Pre-section quite a bit too. I'll switch to these once I've got a good fix on how my Sovteks sound.

I found the Jan-Phillips to be terribly harsh in the DAC60, the stock Sovteks were superior. I tried Mullard 6922 and they were thin.

The NOS Telsa's were very nice. I did not try any Amperex or Siemens because the price is rediculous.

I suppose it depends on the phones, and rest of the set up. I find the Senns in my set up need the brighter sound of the JAN Phillips tubes.

Though I may try the Sovteks or Teslas... just to see - though I suspect they'll be too bland for me.

I did briefly try the Voskhod 6N1P-EVs and found them to be too bland - returned to the JAN Phillips 6922s for their brighter sound, which may sound harsh to some... especially with brighter phones than the Senns.

My NM24 arrived few days ago. The tube-output is amazing even on standard tubes. The soundstage is HUGE. The solid state output is little boring. In my speaker setup the standard tubes are little bit too bright, so which tubes I should choose?

JJ E88CC or Ei 6DJ8?

I'd let it burn in and settle... before I made judgments on the tubes. The JAN Philips 6922s are great tubes after burn in - they're sound solidifies and mellows a bit. It will be hard to find better all around tubes at reasonable prices - in the 6922's the next stop is NOS at premium prices.

Though... I'd likely try the Ei's, or the Russian 6H23N-EBs.

After that... I'd try some NOS Amperex or Philips.

I just tried some Philips, and Russian 6N1P's - they were both good in the DAC sockets. I still prefer the stock tubes to both though. But... of course... that's with Senns.
