Yes, I tried this, but I have extreme distortions and crackle. I don't know why. Over my desktop-speakers it's all ok.

Have you tried WASAPI? Its much easier to set up than ASIO and sounds great. Hope you figure it out.

My system is good old XP. WASAPI is only Vista, I read. Or it is possible under XP?

olblueyez, thank you very much for your work.
Now Asio4all works perfect for my Corda 3Move.
I go with Asio Buffer Size to 2048, Latency Compensation to 0.
So there is no crackle anymore and Soundquality is better.

Glad I could help, I never did understand people telling other people to "Use the Search Function", either get involved or don't. There is a lot of info on this and some of it deals with older versions of the software and is convoluted and overwhelming too. You know what they say, "A picture is worth...
BTW, I have a shortcut to the windows audio control panel on my desktop so I can change the default device without rummaging through the control panel.

On the trigger for a V-DAC. A couple of questions:
Is stoneaudio the one and only place in the UK to ship internationally? "Usually within 14 days" delivery time at the moment.
Was a USB cable included with the V-DAC package? Is the USB type A to A; or A to B, or mini-B?

I don't know the answer to your first question.
My V-DAC didn't come with any USB cable included.
The V-DAC uses Type A to Type B.

I ordered mine via ebay from a seller called "uk audio gallery", service was good & they ship outside UK.
The USB plug on the VDAC is a USB B. To connect it to a standard PC you will need as such an A to B USB cable.
The VDAC package does not contain such a cable - or in fact any cable apart from power supply.

Windows Audio Control Panel (Choosing "No Sounds" for the sound scheme will prevent windows from interfereing with your Dac as well).
Audio Card Digital Settings (May need to be higher if you have recordings greater than CD quality)
Spdif settings (May be different depending on your Dac)
USB Settings, Always Use 16 Bit 44.100 Hz
All levels for digital out should be 100 percent in all programs.
Anytime you see a "TEST" button in a control panel. make sure it works, if not then you need to change a setting or two.
Good Luck

Thank you for this- real helpful. I still am not sure if I am maxing out my potential with my setup, maybe you can confirm or suggest improvements.
I run iTunes thru Vista 32bit with all the settings you show (16 bit, 44.1kHz) via USB to my V-DAC with volumes maxed out. I have my crappy sound card disabled and all Windows sounds off as well. I tried Foobar with WASAPI and heard no detectable improvement in SQ (and I prefer the iTunes layout). I am I missing anything with this setup or any suggestions?
Thanks again- sorry for the full quote

Thanks guys. That ebayer appears to be OK, and with a 4.5/5 shipping time rating.
The size and weight of this brick looks right for a laptop-/transportable kit.

I would recommend you spend a week or two with each program, short term A-B testing usually doesnt tell you much. Are you using ALAC with your iTunes?
