Marantz CD5003 CD player availability?
Hello,
Does anyone know when the new Marantz CD5003 cd player will be available in the US?
I have emailed Crutchfield and Onecall and they told me that the did not know yet.
Thanks.

At least one Internet retailer claims to have it in stock now. I'll PM you the link so that I won't appear to be spamming the board.

It sure looks better than the CD5001. I wonder if there will be any difference when using it as a transport.

Why not post the link here, like anyone else would do?
Others are also interested in new gear.

Update:
I have found two places that have them:
1. Wild West Electronics
2. Crutchfield [they are not listed on their website yet, but ARE available].
Maybe more dealers will have them soon?
Hope this helps.

The new CD5003 could be an excellent buy for those that don't want to spring for the really-nice SA8001 model.

Agree with you there...I have the non-US equivalent. However I am itching to hear the replacement (will arrive here end of the month). They will be releasing both the SA7003 and SA8003 here (SA8003 essentially being the "KI" version).

I e-mailed Crutchfield this morning to ask about price and availability. Will post their reply when I get it.
Looks like a good combination of price, quality and features. Now to find a DAC with an analog pass through so I have the option of listening to the 5003 the way Marantz intended.

Bad news for me, I just got the SA7001 last month.

Crutchfield got back to me within a couple hours with a link to an online shopping cart with the Marantz CD5003 conveniently inside. $349.99 with free standard shipping.
Somebody needs to order this player and post their impressions.
For space considerations, I actually would prefer the CD5001. Will the CD5003 be worth the extra $50 and added bulk?

I currently use a Marantz CD5400 as a transport. It is an older model and I use it with an Entech 203.2 DAC. I am contemplating upgrading my DAC but now am wondering if the onboard DAC in this model is as good or better than using it as a transport with some other 'cheap' (<$500)) DAC. Here's the Marantz blurb from the Wild West website:
"The digital-analog-converters (DACs) themselves come from Cirrus Logic. Yes, Marantz has used them before; but only in far more expensive products such as the Marantz THX-certified DV8400 DVD player. So Marantz know's they’re good. In fact, they’re capable of handling high definition audio data streams (DSD and 24-bit/192 kHz PCM signals) without losing their composure. You might think they’re a bit of overkill for CD reproduction. But you’ll know better once you hear the CD5003."
Is this hype or could it actually be good enough to use on its own? I am unfamiliar with this DV8400 they speak of.
I must say that I did notice a difference when I inserted the Entech into the chain vice using the analog outs on the CD5400 I currently have.

According to the CD5003 manual, it incorporates the Cirrus Logic CS4392 DAC. Is anyone familiar with these chips and are they 'worthy' of using, vice going with an external DAC (like KECES, Lite AH or similarly priced)?
I am trying to decide if I should upgrade my current Entech DAC or try out this new Marantz piece.
THANKS!

$150 if you don't mind Marantz certified refurbished.

After doing some more research, I found that this is actually the same DAC in the CD5001 AND the CD5400 (the one I have now).
I am beginning to wonder what is the big deal, if any, about the 5001 and/or 5003.
What am I missing here?
