Default How does the HeadRoom Micro DAC compare to something like the Zhaolu?

I don't really have any intention of buying the Zhaolu because I want a DAC with USB compatibility, but when I compare the images of each DAC's internal components, it's easy to see that the Zhaolu has a got a lot more going inside than the Micro. How does the Micro hold up when compared to something like the Zhaolu (this is only regarding the DAC part--the amp in the Zhaolu is irrelevant)?

Thanks

Well, if you haven't heard the Zhaolu, and you don't plan on getting it, then what does it matter?

The Micro is a very capable DAC. Why don't you get it, and see if you like it.

So I should only be interested in learning about things that I intend to own? I'm curious--that's all.

There were some comments about Micro DAC vs. Zhaolu in this thread:
http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=186870

Basically, there's some compromise in making the Micro DAC portable. Because of this compromise, the Zhaolu is expected to be better.

Don't you know this is Head-Fi? Somehow we end up getting items that we never initially planned on getting

Thanks for the link, Azure.

And I don't know anything about the different models and upgrades for the Zhaolu. I just noticed that it's a name being thrown around a lot. I was just thinking of anything in the $200-300 price range.

they both use the same dac chip....it's possible that they may sound at least similar.
also note that a transit+zhaolu should actually come out to the same price.
