Congrats! I've spent around an hour with a P8i before and it's absolutely superb. The stunning detail retrieval was what impressed me the most! Happy listening...
I wonder how easy (or difficult) to get the top off the player. I know many of us would like to know what's under the hood
My wallet just jumped out of its pocket, took over my brain, and zombified me while it decided the Plinius CD-101 and bel canto CD-1 weren't enough and it just HAD to get its paws on a taste of something completely out of nowhere! I mean my wallet has developed a mind of its own! It is controlling my every manuever! I lost all sense of right from wrong, left from right, up from down! I couldn't stop it even though I wanted to! Look what it made me get!!!
I've received word that the machine has arrived. Now I have to wait out until June 1st when I'm back home from vacation and can retrieve it, agghhhh! I must hear it now!!!

I read on another site (either Audiogon or Audio Asylum) that someone tried to take the top off but couldn't. Well I guess we'll see if it comes off or not, I know I'll definitely be trying to take it off, I want to look at dCS' legendary Ring DAC.

The P8i and I have finally met. Have already listened for a few hours. This machine is absolutely flooring me, if you guys want the short version.
Post #1 has been updated with pics.
Unfortunately the back panel layout doesn't allow me to use any of my aftermarket power cords due to the extruded plate getting in the way. I was hoping to be able to use them, oh well. I'm using a computer-grade 18AWG stock cord for now. The search for an appropriate aftermarket power cord begins...
I tried to open the CDP today but it was impossible! I spent a good 5-10 minutes trying to figure out how to take it apart (after unscrewing the various hex keys of course) and actually trying to, but the chassis/panel just would not come apart no matter what I did, geez! It's like dCS welded the back panel to the main chassis or something!
