My wallet wasn't even thinking about the future BH SE/OII when it made this move for me. I may need to sell off my dynamic rig after all to offset this cost...

I do hope you fully enjoy its presentation!
As an aside and seeing that it is their entry level platform, you have your upgrade path established
I haven't heard any dCS gear yet, this will be my first sample. The good news is that dCS and Arcam are right next door to each other (and Arcam used a mini-Ring DAC in three CDPs too) so I'm hoping for an uber-Arcam-like sound.
The rest of the dCS line is definitely way beyond my reach, I would need to either save up for like 2 years (and live like a monk during that time) or rob a bank to afford anything beyond the P8i. I think robbing a bank would be more effective...
Well I don't generally peruse eBay. I sift through Audiogon instead on a daily basis and nabbed a wicked-screaming-scorching deal on this at $5.5K! That's what I meant when I said my wallet took over! It couldn't handle the over-the-top deal and when it saw it, it fainted first, but quickly recovered and then took over my brain & fingers! I tried to fight it but it had its way with me and made me jump down the rabbit hole!
And I thought my digital source journey was over....
It really sucks you moved to Colorado. I'd love to hear that CDP..
Now I'm using Plinius 101 + aristaeus + HE60
It sounds really good as you mentioned before...
I thought my journey ended at last...
but...
but....
But this post arouse my curiosity again!!!!!!!!!
Could I hear your impression about your new source? especially in comparison with your ex-source ( Plinius 101 )

I'm sure I'll be writing about the P8i sometime soon. I'm actually in Korea right now, are you in Seoul? Send me a PM if you are, would be nice to stop by and check out your rig, I'm sure it sounds awesome. I can bring along a HeadAmp Pico, it's pretty much all I brought with me for my travel-fi rig, apart from an iAudio X5 and my IEMs.

Just one question ... why couldn't you have done this deal before CanJam '08?
Thanks, I still can't believe I went for this though. There have actually been several P8i's on Audiogon for a while, but it helps to know that I got the one with the sweetest deal.
Wonderful looking and im sure, sounding cdp there ASR...i hope i get to hear it one day =) As i will never get to own one myself...unless you want to leave it to me in your will...but dammit you are younger then me bah.
And i agree with Agile, you should of had this at Canjam.....cure you!!

I can leave this and the HP2 to you in my will, how does that sound? And who knows, I might die early from a disease or something...
I was a little hesitant to send my Plinius CD-101 to CanJam btw, would've been even more wary of sending a P8i. I prefer to keep the really expensive stuff at home, you can never be too sure of stuff happening during shipping...
Can't wait to get back home in a couple weeks, this and even more new equipment will be waiting for me, much audio bliss will ensue!
