I would be very surprised if anything modern ( < 16 years old ) and non-portable will be analog out only, maybe a $30 Wallmart CD player, but unlikely to find anything much more expensive that is analog only, apart from the output from a SACD which is generally analog only so it cannot be copied.

Loads of older units ( say 1984 - 1988) will be analog out only - eBay is the best place to search.

Though I am at a loss to see why this is a big issue, you can get one with digital outs and just not use them. Also not all digital outs are optical some are 75ohm coax.

EDIT: Some Yamaha players are analog output only i.e the CDC501 this is a 1995 model

The NAD C521BEE does not have "optical bollocks", but it does have a coaxial digital output... It sounds great and it's cheap.
As hciman77 said however, I think it's pretty hard these days to find a CDP with no digital outputs at all.
CDPs from Esoteric have digital outputs, but also the option to turn them off when you want to. (At least the SA-10 does) That could be a solution?

It is relatively inexpensive to have a digital output on a cd/dvd player so it is not like you are paying much for an unused feature.

Why do you want a player without a digital output?

Hhahha yeah - I found out that it seems impossible to get a new CDP without the additional outputs. Well, a new one at least.....

I have an Onkyo CDP with just RCAs. The sound actually isn't bad, but I like using a DAC so it doesn't get any use at all.

But having digital output along with RCA's does not penalize you.

I just use my Zenith DVB611 dvd player. Analog RCA outs go into my Dared Mp5 and the component video go into my HD monitor. works great for playing audio cds or dvd audio

My single-disc Sony SACD/DVD/CD players (yes, players) allow the digital outputs to be turned on.

Otherwise, I don't think you guys search hard enough for an analog only CD player....TEAC CDP-1260 CD player is analog only.

Oh, it does. "Bit leak" from unused digital outputs can be a problem causing less resolution in the music itself (grainy highs, congested soundstage). Besides, the health effects of the free floating bits are still unknown (especially those inhaled zeros).

L.

Here's a solution:

If you do get a CD player with a digital output and you are uncomfortable with it for whatever reason, just cover it up with a piece of black duct tape.
