The best option is to rip all your CDs to a lossless format, store them on your HD, buy a Logitech Squeezebox, Duet or Transporter and stream your music over a wireless network without a ned for a CDP. This is a cheaper option and leaves you money for tunes or other non-essentials.
No one has been able to convince me the SA-15 is meaningfully better than the SA8001. Of course, I ought to compare them with my own ears, but I haven't had an opportunity.
I'm on the same boat. I'm currently using a Marantz CD5001 to a WA6 to K701. Would it be a good idea to upgrade to the SA8001 even though I don't have a lot of SACDs?
Definitely. Buy the SA8001 and sell me your CD5001. I'm looking for a used one

I'd think it takes longer to physically put in, take out CDs everytime an album is played.

What do you guys mean by high resolution CD ? SACD ? DVD-A ?
High resolution is also known as SHM (super-high-material). SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

Yes, that is how. How many hours does it take to rip 1000 cd's? What does that add up to if your time is worth even as little as $10/hr (mine goes for much more)? And what are you saving in hardware cost in comparison, $200, $400? New SA8001 's sometimes go for $600.
I'm not totally down on the whole Squeezebox/music server idea. I see the desireability of it to for some people. But the fairly modest economic benefit in cost of hardware is not a good argument in favor of it "If your time to you is worth savin' ."
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread ~~
You'll have to pardon the big fans of music-servers who are sometimes like religious zealots in their effort convert others. I'm porbably like you Zow: I use mp3s daily but for serious listening perfer cds. Furthermore, I recognize its a personal choice. Take solace in the fact that if they are this pushy towards CDs, imagine their distain for vinyl users.

I'm in the original source camp as well. Its all about quality sound. thats why we do this right? I would prefer to Never compress my audio at all. unfortunately, it is unrealistic to put uncompressed media on todays players. I'm even uncomfortable with lossless format. it just doesnt "feel" right to me.. anyway, we're all in it together, and think of what will happen in another 3-5 years!! I long for, even pine, for the first 100 Terabyte iPod!!
