OP, I know you prefer new turntables, but have a look at vintage tables. For a list of recommended models, memepool's Low Budget Vinyl Source thread is a great place for starters. Many people who are familiar with turntables say that cheap vintage turntables are better than new entry level turntables.

I bought my Pioneer PL-12D off of craigslist from a local seller for about $50. It's clean and functions perfectly. I wanted a way to get into vinyl with minimal investment in order to determine whether I liked it. Needless to say, vinyl FTW.

And don't forget to factor in the cost of cleaning supplies.
